Congressman Proposes "First!" Legislation

Here is a bit of legislation that your humble moderator (and all round
nice guy) can agree with.
(bbspot) Bismarck, ND - Representative William "Willy" Greene from New
Jersey plans to introduce new legislation next week during a special
session of the Joint Federal Communications Committee to make it illegal
to post on Internet bulletins boards, forums, and USENET groups with the
sole purpose of being "first!"
It is about time. I am tired of seeing the same person day after day
being "first". I also find it disturbing that some folks seem to be shut
out from being "first". This practice of trying to be "first" all the
time can only create dissensions in our normally quiet forums.
When asked what measures would be implemented to dissuade prepubescent
males (who comprise the vast majority of "first!" posters on the Internet)
from this deplorable behavior, Greene said, "They will be fined. The
penalty for the first offense will be $500 dollars. After that, it
escalates according to how much bandwidth their post uses up each fiscal
day until it is removed. For more egregious offenders, prison time may be
warranted."
This is not a free speech issue. This is a matter of fairness to all
commenters. Once this bill is passed I will be enforcing the "No first
rule" with an iron fist. Be warned.

Not in Federal Way, WA, it doesn't. All Fools Day lasts til' midnight
here. One of our biggest resident fools of all time, American Idol idiot,
Sanjaya Malakar, slimes around here.
