Object: Failures of Nostradamus
Some people want you to believe Nostradamus was very accurate in predicting
the future. Those people don't want you to know his many failures though.
Take this prediction:
Under the shadowy pretense of removing servitude,
He will himself usurp the people and city:
He will do worse because of the deceit of the young prostitute,
Delivered in the field reading the false poem.
That prediction is that Abraham Lincoln would be involved in a sex scandal
in Iowa.
Why has nobody told us about this failed predicition? Is there a cover up
going on?

Why do you think that would apply to Abraham Lincoln? Just because of the
first line? It wasn't a pretense of removing servitude, he really did
remove servitude. There are plenty of other instances throughout history
that would fit it better, even down to a personal level.

Don't know where your source got his information but perhaps a Leoni
may help:
C5Q05. Under the shadowy pretence of removing servitude, He will
himself usurp the people and city: He will do worse because of the
deceit of the young prostitute, Delivered in the field reading the
false poem.
V. Sous ombre feinte dôter de servitude, Peuple et cité l'usurpera
lui-mêmes Pire fera par fraude de jeune pute 6, Livré au champ lisant
le faux poëme.
6 pute = OF:pute, prostitute.
CVQ 5. This one is rather vague, and undoubtedly many interpretations
can be made for it, especially in Renaissance Italy. A rather recent
application has been to Adolf Hitler, removing Germany from the
servitude of Versailles. The young prostitute is of course Marianne,
the corrupt Third Republic, and somehow or other line 4 brings in Mein
Kampf, Larmor (1925, p. 150) is such an arch-legitimist as to apply
this to the "usurpation" of the French throne by Henry of Navarre in
1589, whereafter he shut up his former wife and quondam partner,
Marguerite of Valois, in an Auvergne castle, where, according to
Larmor, "she divided her time between reading the Bible and
debauchery."
So perhaps the World of Nostradamus did not revolve around the USA!

Oh yeah? I'm just playing the same game yoiu Nosty-lovers play.
If Lincoln had been involed in a sex scandal, then that prediction would be
a hit, right?
So, he wasn't involved in a sex scandal, and that makes it a miss.
Get it? You twist your interpretations so that you find hits out of vague
nonsense. Why do you not do the same in analyzing misses?

How do you know this is not the case for some of his prophecies?

Amazing, ain't it? Nancy Lieder has her believers too. It seems that
even when prophecies fail people who have an emotional investment
just can't let go of their cherished beliefs, no matter how
irrational. I'm sure you've seen this but others might not have:

It looks to me that it could equally be a biblical account of Jesus.
He 'delivered' his people from servitude under the Roman rule, or
tried to. He had a rather odd association with a prostitute, Mary
Magdalane. He was delivered up as well...no doubt reading his'poem' or
messages of insurrection against thr Roman rule.
Funny how rambling ancient verse can be made to describe about
anything. That's the art of astrologers and so-called prophets. Cater
for everone and everything...and above all, be vague.

Title: Re: Failures of some Nostradamus' interpreters 16 Dec 2003 10:25:41 AM
Bah, this is likely about the deception of the French revolution.
Although the biggest failures are those that say the quatrains are not
prophecies, analyzing interpretations of everyone who improvise
themselves exegetes will lead you to find lots of failure.
There is but one interpretation, one single event (sometimes there are
several events described, but it speaks of one momentum) in the course
of History, for each quatrain.
Besides, you will note that most of the pseudo interpretations that see
the US in the quatrains are totally off.
You want an idea of the best interpretations in the world of the
quatrain you go there: http://www.michelnostradamus.org and click on the
epoch you want interpretations about.
Otherwise, keep your illusions, what do I care...
