SAN DIEGO -- (AP) -- Usenet fairy *****, Johnny T.E. Madhatter, a.k.a.
JTEM, was arrested early Tuesday at the San Diego Zoo, charged with
exposing himself in a public place.
"I saw this odd little man go up to the orangutans and open up his trench
coat and expose himself," Jenny O'Neill, a visitor, said. "He laughed and
jumped up and down for a few seconds, then ran off."
Moments later, visitors and zoo workers reported that he'd 'flashed' the
elephants and zebras. Witnesses said he was laughing and jumping up and
down.
"He made obscene hand gestures many times at us," O'Neill said.
San Diego police arrested Madhatter just outside the front entrance of the
zoo as he was attempting to flee in a VW van.
Police spokesmen said they found "a huge cache" of animal photos, and many
inflatable and stuffed animal dolls in his van.
"I think he loves animals a bit too much," the spokesman said.
