Five members of an Israeli right-wing terrorist cell called "Free Men of the
Galilee" were indicted Monday at court in Nazareth for planning to kidnap
soldiers, gunfire attacks and throwing incendiary devices at policemen.
Police seized 12 computers and arrested five people during the raid, and two
more at a later stage.
"Twelve computers were confiscated and a document was found which had a list
of religious questions and rhetorical answers relating to the legitimacy of
physically harming anyone involved in dismantling settlements".
The document clearly tries to legitimise the use of force against soldiers
and police removing outposts and settlements, and even against Israeli
Defence Minister Shaul Mofaz, the wording is described as "very serious".
It said that when Mofaz authorised soldiers to dismantle an outpost, he
should be doubly punished for abusing his position.
"It is clear that when you're talking about the defence minister, who is
responsible for state security, it is the evil use of his position and his
punishment will be double," it said.
The men are also accused of membership in a terror organization that
operated in the Lower Galilee between October 2000 and April 2004. They
allegedly planned to carry out terror attacks in Israel to avenge Israel's
killings of Palestinians and its actions in the territories.
Moussa and Anbatawi, two of the Israeli men arrested, told investigators
that they formed the cell in order to murder soldiers and take their weapons
to carry out further attacks. The two admitted to throwing firebombs at
police cars at the Golani and Beit Rimon Junctions.
