PESHAWAR, Pakistan (AP) - Five tribal elders accused of hiding
suspected al-Qaida members in a remote mountainous region near the
border with Afghanistan have offered to surrender, a senior military
official said Thursday.
Gen. Pervez Musharraf made last month which allows suspected
terrorists to remain in Pakistan if they pledge to respect the
country's laws and refrain from all forms of terrorism.
He said they also would have to guarantee they won't enter
Afghanistan, where rebels often target the Afghan army and U.S.-led
forces.
