CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. - Four rocket bombs from World War II training
exercises have been found in Florida since Hurricane Jeanne blew through
last month and uncovered them.
The latest find was Monday. Army explosives experts from Cape Canaveral
Air Force Station removed a 10 1/2-foot-long, rocket-powered explosive
nicknamed "Tiny Tim" from the sands of Vero Beach.
"It's a 500 pound, semi-armor piercing bomb fitted with a rocket motor,"
said Sgt. 1st Class Jake Holland of the Army's 766th Ordnance Company.
"The rocket had been fired, but the warhead was live."
Two other rocket-bombs have recently been found along the Atlantic
coast, one in Ormond Beach and another in Vero Beach. The fourth was
found inland at Fruitland Park. All were Tiny Tims.
Parts of inland central Florida was used in World War II as bombing
ranges, and the then mostly empty coast stretching along Volusia,
Brevard and Indian River counties was used for amphibious landing and
other military training. Tank obstacles and other military gear have
been found as well.
The disposal squad dug up the beach rocket bombs by hand, trucked them
out of harms way and detonated them in a holes covered with sand.

All kinds of neat things are uncovered at the beaches after hurricanes.
So maybe there is still hope we may find Atlantis....and of course the
nuke that was sunken off the coast of Tybee Island, Georgia. ;)

Maybe if we clone him he can give the next two debates against himself
and let Bush have a rest from a Belgium Waffle sucka?
