I was thinking the other night while mulling about all the hoopla over
the U.S. Presidential campaigns with the polls, cryin' and lyin' and
back-stabbin' and I thought 'It's almost like a beauty pageant!'
So with this in mind, instead of just 'debates' they should have other
competitions too -- maybe a swimsuit contest, some kind of idiotic
'gladiator' challenge where they beat the ***** out of one another with
Nerf weapons while wearing way too much protective gear, physical
endurance challenges (Cheney wouldn't be the problem he is now if this
had been the case in 2000), singing competitions, last comic standing,
etc -- I think it would appeal to broader range of citizens and get them
more involved in the political process (for all the wrong reasons of
course).
Just a thunk! :->
Cheers!

Prior to the hoopla over Hilary's tears there was great concern about
her cleavage during a debate -- yes ... her cleavage. :-D
And then she laughed and the networks and 'official' media spent a week
analyzing that.
Tears, tits and tittering ... welcome to Cam'pain' 08! :-)
Cheers!

Excellent analogies, Amazing Marv.
Everyone looks at Bush as being puppet on a string. Manipulated by
Cheney? Maybe managed by Cheney. Mostly following an agenda by the
people that really run the company.
So given the depth of talent, insight and articulation employed by Mr.
Bush maybe that's template we're to expect. Maybe the shallowness of
the process brings the well connected, well groomed sophomoric moronic
homecoming kings we deserve.
We'll just have to get really pissed some day if all this desire for
"change" doesn't really shake things up.
Wouldn't have worked to have the nerf competetions in the previous 2
presidential elections. Bush and Cheney would have scrambled for
deferments.

Two things which really stood out to me about Cheney was his secret
energy task force and his insistence that Bush not testify alone before
the 911 Commission.
I believe a group requesting information about who was on the task force
were shot down in court. How can a democracy exist when the government
operates in complete secrecy? Energy execs and Cheney dictating energy
policy in secret because they only had your best interests at heart.
Bush, the "leader" of the free world was unable to face questioning on
his own in front of the 911 Commission. I believe the 'gig was up', the
mask of command fallen, at that point and it was apparent Cheney
controls him completely. Bush's Bubble was created and is maintained by
Cheney.
So given the depth of talent, insight and articulation employed by Mr.
Bush maybe that's template we're to expect. Maybe the shallowness of

It seems power is bought and paid for now. The media itself is owned
not by the public but the military-industrial complex (GE owns NBC for
example)and major corporations. Information is skewed.
The government is no longer 'for the people'.
For example, what's the hold-up with Universal Healthcare (single
payer)? It would be more cost effective per capita then the current
system and *everyone* would be covered? Sounds ideal, doesn't it? Even
fiscal conservatives should agree with it so what's happening? Who's
interests are you representatives in gov't representing??
It's a con and the media continues to help perpitrate it.
We'll just have to get really pissed some day if all this desire for
"change" doesn't really shake things up.
The internet is cheap and ideas are still free! :-) The 'Blogosphere'
is beginning to thrive and be noticed -- just ordinary citizens, not
corporate bought and owned talking heads and political pundits.
Wouldn't have worked to have the nerf competetions in the previous 2
presidential elections. Bush and Cheney would have scrambled for
deferments.
BWAHAHAHAHAHA! Maybe they could have been disqualified then! We'll have
to contact Ryan Seacrust and the panel of judges from 'American Idiot'
to get a final answer on that.
Cheers my friend!

What a great idea! Maybe instead of the "talent" portion, they could have
a "thinking under pressure" competition, where they have to solve some
kind of puzzle before something horrible happens to them (waterboarded,
shocked with electricity, etc). I would be very interested to see how
various candidates do under pressure when faced with something completely
unexpected, with no prep, coaching, rehearsing, or advisers.
