Object: For Su Zanne...Hurricane Question
Hi Sue. I have a good friend in the Jupiter, Fla., area. Just got back in
touch last years (after years and years) via classmates.com. Was wondering
what the situation looks like for Jupiter (?) It's right on the ocean,
isn't it?

I was worried about my friend in Jupiter, but it was another friend, inland
in Sebring that had a rough go of it. No loss of life there, from what I
gather, but no services, lots of trees down and houses destroyed. A tornado
passed over their house, but did not touch down, thank god! Scary!

Hi Jane,
Yes, it's a coastal city in between Port St. Lucie and West Palm Beach
on Florida's east coast.
It's fine for now, tomorrow is a different day.......different
storm..."Charlie".
Looks like no matter where you are in Florida.....you will get some of
it.
If you want to monitor it:
http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/refresh/graphics_astorm3+shtml/122113.shtml?
Only time will tell. It could fizzle out or strengthen to be a monster.

Hey thanks, y'awl :)
What a day! Husband away and everything to do by myself. It's
done.....everything's secure FINALLY and that's usually a sign that the
thing will fizzle out.
All the damage has yet to be reported. Plenty of power outages but we
are fine so far and still waiting to see what he will do....who will he
do!
There have been tornadoes all over since yesterday and a cold front not
even related to Charlie came out of the west today and produced severe
weather and flooding which made preparations difficult and made me
soaking wet.
3 fatalities unfortunately :(
It was a cat-4 at one time but has weakened significantly. I think I
might just sleep tonight. I'm so tired.
Did I mention this is ONLY the beginning of Hurricane Season?

We have been lucky to have never taken a hit, not in my 41 years.
You must take them seriously and go thru all the motions and precautions
even if it misses you 100 times. It just may be that 101st time when you
are not prepared that it does hit you.
There may be 100's dead in Punta Gorda Florida. There is reports of
stacks of bodies in an area there that the rescue crews haven't been
able to get to yet.
It may be days before the actual death toll can be reported. It spared
us once again but I feel so very bad for the others who didn't have all
the time to prepare or evacuate like us. It made an unexpected quick
turn and most of them chose to stay home.
The storm is now heading northward up the east coast. It's not over yet.
China has had a bad time too. 100's dead.
Mother Nature, she is beautiful, but *what* a *****!

Don't they have something like a fallout shelters or basements with
rooms to ride out the storms in case of unexpected turns of the Hcane?

I checked your porch cam and it says reload every 30 seconds. I saw no
people walkby, or for than matter any little animals. Interesting that
the clouds didn't move either. In fact, I checked back hours later and
the clouds are * right* in the same place as they were hours before.
Funny cam you have?
However, I saw your dog make backflips, cook a steak, order Pay Per
View of Spiderman II and order over the phone a year subscription to

Check your reading comprehension skills and then check again. I never
said the porch cam refreshes.......the dog cam refreshes. Oh look! She
changed rooms but she is *still* sleeping.

My lazy dog? riggggght!
She is not allowed to order pay-per-view any more because she just falls
asleep 5 seconds into the movie.
She is not allowed to use the phone anymore.....her heavy panting makes
people hang up on her.

Why is your supporting verb in the past tense while your main verb is
in the present tense?
Any clues to what your thought process is on all of this?

I can never understand people in mobile homes deciding to stick out a hurricane
at home. Mobile homes can't take a twister that's F1, and that's only 75 mhp -
a minimal hurricane. They've got to either be nuts or just plain stupid.
(Although, I've heard that shelters will not allow pets, so I can understand
someone not wanting to leave their dog/cat behind. But, that's when you
lie through your teeth and sneak it into a hotel room with you ...)

They weren't expecting it to hit there and then all that changed. I
believe I heard the mayor or somebody on the news stating that they
didn't have enough time to go in and assist moving them out as they
normally would have and many had nowhere to go or they didn't want to be
stuck on the road which is what happened with H.Floyd here. We could not
have gotten out if we tried. Major traffic jam!
