Object: Get those fuckin' idiots out of there! NOW
The eldest son of Iraq's most influential Shiite politician complained
today
that he was treated rudely and his bodyguards were "strongly abused"
by US
troops who detained them after they crossed back from Iran.
Amar al-Hakim said he was dragged of his car and told to raise his
hands by US
troops who were acting rudely and shouting.
He said he underwent a body search and was handcuffed and his
suitcases were searched.
He said his passport was checked and the Americans found it was valid
until
September 17, 2007.
"Is this the way to deal with a national figure? This does not conform
with
Iraq's sovereignty," he said during a news conference in the Shiite
holy city
of Najaf.
Al-Hakim, 35, was taken into custody on Friday at the Zirbatyah
crossing point
southeast of Baghdad along with his security guards, said his father's
secretary, Jamal al-Sagheer.
The US military has called the incident "unfortunate."
US Ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad issued a rapid apology amid concerns
the
detention would touch off a backlash from Shiite leaders at a time
when their cooperation
is needed most to keep a major security sweep through Baghdad from
unravelling.

Sorry, but this guy sounds like a self-important jerk to me. I'm not about
to have sympathy for someone whining about not getting special treatment
after, presumably, acting like a jerk at a border crossing in a war zone.
(While there is some possibility he was not acting like a jerk, I think it
very, very likely given his statement).
That said, we aren't exactly enhancing our reputation over there ...
*sigh*

Nah. He probably wouldn't leave since he was coming back...
And another thing. This guy protests HIS treatment?
Where is his rhetoric for the poor slob who isn't "a national figure".
I guess that's ok?
Were the bodyguards armed?
If I were at a checkpoint and somebody came through with weapons, I'd most
likely want everyone to raise their hands where I could see them until I
figured out what was what and who was who...
Kinda like the old joke about the Marine Private who ordered a General to
"Halt!"
And the General said "Isn't that supposed to be 'Halt! Who goes there?'
And the private sez, "Sir! When I say 'Halt!', ain't nobody going nowhere,
Sir!"
" But I'm a General!"
"Sir! Not until I decide you are, Sir!".

This is a big media lie from liberals who lick boots of terrorists. Iran
export terror for many year and it responsible for most trouble in Mideast
nations not only Iraq. Bush right in thinking they need to get their butt
kicked by Navy. I know this will keep them from going too far with Israel
and gulf nations. If US does not do this Israel will do it. Tehran will be
smoking ruins soon. Nosty is not wrong and every day event s show his
vision that of God. US military only real hope for Mideast to prevent
Persia raising up again.
