Nothing new here, right?
Just more evidence from captured Iraqi documents and interrogated
Iraqi officials that Al Qaeda had no business with Iraq prior or
following 9-11.
This, coupled with the forged letter linking Iraq to uranium purchases
from Niger, gave BushCo all they needed for 'mushrooms clouds above
American cities'.
Impeach these lying bastards.
Cheers,

Hussein's Prewar Ties To Al-Qaeda Discounted
Pentagon Report Says Contacts Were Limited
By R. Jeffrey Smith
Washington Post Staff Writer
Friday, April 6, 2007; A01
Captured Iraqi documents and intelligence interrogations of Saddam
Hussein and two former aides "all confirmed" that Hussein's regime was
not directly cooperating with al-Qaeda before the U.S. invasion of
Iraq, according to a declassified Defense Department report released
yesterday.
The declassified version of the report, by acting Inspector General
Thomas F. Gimble, also contains new details about the intelligence
community's prewar consensus that the Iraqi government and al-Qaeda
figures had only limited contacts, and about its judgments that
reports of deeper links were based on dubious or unconfirmed
information. The report had been released in summary form in February.
The report's release came on the same day that Vice President Cheney,
appearing on Rush Limbaugh's radio program, repeated his allegation
that al-Qaeda was operating inside Iraq "before we ever launched" the
war, under the direction of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the terrorist killed
last June.
"This is al-Qaeda operating in Iraq," Cheney told Limbaugh's listeners
about Zarqawi, who he said had "led the charge for Iraq." Cheney cited
the alleged history to illustrate his argument that withdrawing U.S.
forces from Iraq would "play right into the hands of al-Qaeda."
Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman Carl M. Levin (D-Mich.), who
requested the report's declassification, said in a written statement
that the complete text demonstrates more fully why the inspector
general concluded that a key Pentagon office -- run by then-
Undersecretary of Defense Douglas J. Feith -- had inappropriately
written intelligence assessments before the March 2003 invasion
alleging connections between al-Qaeda and Iraq that the U.S.
intelligence consensus disputed.
The report, in a passage previously marked secret, said Feith's office
had asserted in a briefing given to Cheney's chief of staff in
September 2002 that the relationship between Iraq and al-Qaeda was
"mature" and "symbiotic," marked by shared interests and evidenced by
cooperation across 10 categories, including training, financing and
logistics.
Instead, the report said, the CIA had concluded in June 2002 that
there were few substantiated contacts between al-Qaeda operatives and
Iraqi officials and had said that it lacked evidence of a long-term
relationship like the ones Iraq had forged with other terrorist
groups.
"Overall, the reporting provides no conclusive signs of cooperation on
specific terrorist operations," that CIA report said, adding that
discussions on the issue were "necessarily speculative."
The CIA had separately concluded that reports of Iraqi training on
weapons of mass destruction were "episodic, sketchy, or not
corroborated in other channels," the inspector general's report said.
It quoted an August 2002 CIA report describing the relationship as
more closely resembling "two organizations trying to feel out or
exploit each other" rather than cooperating operationally.
The CIA was not alone, the defense report emphasized. The Defense
Intelligence Agency (DIA) had concluded that year that "available
reporting is not firm enough to demonstrate an ongoing relationship"
between the Iraqi regime and al-Qaeda, it said.

Quite true!
I couldn't believe how she manipulated the media with fear mongering
via the use of questionable intelligence data plus beat the drums of
war until Bush and Cheney had no choice but to invade Iraq regardless
of evidence to the contrary.
In fact I wouldn't be surprised if she and Bill and their whole
Leftist Clique were Al Qaeda operatives bent on destroying the U.S.
the way it destroyed the U.S.S.R. in Afghanistan by slowly bleeding it
to death financially and over-extending it militarily.
It's hard to believe how powerless she has made the Commander In
Chief's position ... hard to believe ..
Cheers!

Right, so you prefer to give her a pass for stating (on the Senate
floor) that intelligence reports showed Saddam had worked to
reconstitute his WMD programs, and had given sanctuary to terrorists,
including Al Qaeda members.

Pentagon `Undercut' CIA on Pre-War Intelligence, Probe Finds
By Tony Capaccio
April 5 (Bloomberg) -- Defense Department officials ``undercut'' the
U.S. intelligence community when making a case to White House
officials that Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein had a close relationship
with the al-Qaeda terror network, the Pentagon inspector general said
in a declassified report.
Analysts reporting to former Undersecretary for Policy Douglas Feith
told then-Deputy National Security Adviser Stephen Hadley and Lewis
Libby, the vice president's chief of staff, that there were
``fundamental problems with how the intelligence community is
assessing information,'' the report shows.
The report concludes the Pentagon provided ``inappropriate'' analysis
for its finding of a strong link between Hussein and al- Qaeda -- a
finding that Vice President ***** Cheney cited as a rationale for
invading Iraq along with the need to disarm the nation of weapons of
mass destruction.
The criticism of the intelligence community is one of several on a
slide used in the Sept. 16, 2002, White House briefing.
``The slide undercuts'' the CIA and other intelligence agencies,
Acting Inspector General Thomas Gimble said in a letter to Senator
Carl Levin of Michigan, chairman of the Armed Services Committee, who
released the report today.
Inclusion of the slide -- that was omitted from an earlier briefing
with then-CIA Director George Tenet -- ``clearly did not bolster
support for the intelligence community,'' Gimble wrote.
The 121-page report released today was summarized by Gimble at an
Armed Services Committee hearing Feb. 9. The report was declassified
at Levin's request.

But Hillary Clinton actually had a vote to make, and she made it.
Douglas Feith had no such vote. Yet you're so eager to give Hillary a

We knew that before Bush started making claims to the contrary. There was
bad blood between bin laden and Saddam Hussein, it wasn't even a matter of
being apathetic towards one another. The whole claim that Hussein had
anything to do with them was patently absurd - they were out to establish
a fundie Muslim world, and that would have meant Saddam had to go.
He was a sick, twisted, evil dictator, but he was definitely not stupid.
Now, if you were to say that Bush would maintain ties with a terrorist
group for his own benefit, I'd say he's stupid enough to do that. Oh, wait
- he's just done a demonstration to prove he's that stupid! (See the
article on the CNN link I posted).

Attacking a country with mass distruction weapons seems abserd. That would
only increase the likelyhood that they would fall into the wrong hands.
