Day 23 ... Shot and killed my next-door neighbor over barking dog. Made me
feel a little better. Psychotic, delusional. Pissed to holy hell about
EVERYTHING, busted some furniture, kicked holes in the wall with foot.
Used crack this morning for the first time. Ate whole box of Coca Puffs.
Can't remember what I was going to check ...

Just wait until about a year from now when your lungs are clear and that
morning cough is gone.......you will know it was the right choice.
Hey, don't torture yourself! Wellbutrin is a wonder drug that will
completely knock out the craving. It makes cigarettes taste awful and
you won't want to finish it. You'll find that you may as well light up a
twig off a tree because that is about as satisfying......not!

Me too. Three weeks.

Me three.......6 YEARS!
And I can QUIT this nicorette gum ANYTIME!!
I do it because I *like* it - not because I'm hooked. he he he! ;)

Me three.......6 YEARS!

For me, it has been 16 years! And I started as a babe (at 12), so had
already been smoking 15 years. And I was a 2-pack-a-dayer...already having
trouble with chronic bronchitis. I was inspired to finally quit by a little
thyroid tumor...so I am also a 16-yr cancer surviver!
Anyway Marv it will be the best thing you ever do! I'm a very oral person
(don't take that the wrong way, haha!), chewed my nails before I took up
smoking, ate like a pig when I quit. Gained 40 lbs in a year!!! However, I
took it all back off in the next year and it was still well worth it!
Best of luck and keep us updated! Since you told everyone, now you can't go
back, haha!

That sounds like a good incentive. Good for you.
Remember KOOL cigarettes? Whew! Talk about coughing up razor blades!

I've heard of KOOL; don't know if I ever smoked them...we had different
brands up here. When I went to the US, I usually smoked Winstons. Were
KOOLs menthol? I used to sometimes buy menthol cigs in high school because
no one wanted to bum them, cheap little ***** that I was! I usually smoked
a brand called Export A (big in Quebec) until I couldn't handle them any
more. I gradually worked my way down to the mildest on the market, with
thresult that I smoked more and inhaled more deeply.

Yeah ... my Grandfather smoked those things ... until he quit smoking at
81. Took up the pipe after that. Got lung cancer at 84 ... but he had
smoked since he was 16.
I never took or borrowed any from him ... likely if I had've I would've
never started smoking!

I think that's partly the reason for announcing it ... I've quit for 6
months then 6 weeks last year ( cold turkey ).
I want to quit and I know I have to quit ... that's it.

Careful with the Wellbutrin(Zyban). It's not for folks with eating or seizure disorders. It works
well in less than 15% of those who try it. As with most anti-depressants, accurate double blind
studies are lacking. It's great that it worked for you. Most find the side effects annoying.
Nicotine patches are rising above the other chemical interventions as the #1 most effective choice.
But like all interventions, one size doesn't fit all. Not only is it free, but strong social support
still is the most effective measure against that first cigarette. Really!

Excellent!! Keep it up. The cravings will slowly dimish over time. I'd hate to loose one of my

Advice-give it time and hang on. Use other people for support. Most important........don't pick up.

Not an easy thing to do, for most people. However the plus side is
nice except for the weight gain.
The food will start tasting better, the air cleaner and you won't have
that
"dark brown" taste in the morning plus you should feel better once you
get over the addiction hump. hats off to you who can quit!
