Okay, listen up (like that's going to happen):
Russia has large crude reserves, sure, but they don't
even compare to Kuwait, never mind Iraq. But...
Russia is *The* natural gas "Super Power." They're
number-one in proven reserves, and already growing
rich on their exports.
Who's number-two?
Iran!
If Bush attacks Iran he'll be making Russia richer
and more powerful at the expense of the United
States.
And don't forget weapon sales. Bush attacks Iraq
and countries up to their neck in poverty -- like
Venezuela -- started throwing $Billions$ at Russia
for weapons.
And, oh, Bush knows this. He knows that Russia
has a lot to gain at his expense.
That's a powerful motive to NOT attack Iran. This
should not comfort you, it should scare you. Because
if you all get your wish and Bush does attack Iran,
it'll be for a very important reason... a reason so
important that it's worth further bankrupting the United
States just so Russia can rise higher as a super
power than they ever did as the former Soviet Union.

Okay, listen up (like that's going to happen):
That was a pretty fair stab at predicting the future JTEM. You chose the
most likely event and declared it as a foregone conclusion.. very nice !
Russia has large crude reserves, sure, but they don't
even compare to Kuwait, never mind Iraq. But...
Russia is *The* natural gas "Super Power." They're
number-one in proven reserves, and already growing
rich on their exports.
Really ? Is that why they had to dismantle their military ?
Russia has some really great industrial-grade diamond production too,
but it hasn't prevented them from becoming a 2nd-world economy.
Who's number-two?
Iran!
If Bush attacks Iran he'll be making Russia richer
and more powerful at the expense of the United
States.
You sure about that ? What's the value of those nuclear facility
contracts that Iran hasn't paid for yet ?
And don't forget weapon sales. Bush attacks Iraq
and countries up to their neck in poverty -- like
Venezuela -- started throwing $Billions$ at Russia
for weapons.
Let me get the logic straight here. Venezuela becomes less at
risk from a US attack so they decide to spend massively on new
Russian weapons with money they don't have. This is all making
perfect JTEM-sense now.
And, oh, Bush knows this. He knows that Russia
has a lot to gain at his expense.
That's a powerful motive to NOT attack Iran. This

it'll be for a very important reason... a reason so
important that it's worth further bankrupting the United
States just so Russia can rise higher as a super
power than they ever did as the former Soviet Union.
Oh gee JTEM.. do tell us the reason.. we're all on the edge of
our seats here..

Management. I mean, DUH!
The problem was they were "Managing" their economy
the same they had done through WWII. And, although
it worked great during the war, it simply wasn't responsive
to peace-time needs.
This isn't a difficult concept. Lots of companies go bankrupt
because of poor management, companies which otherwise
would have been strong. Some over expand. Some are top
heavy.
Russia has some really great industrial-grade diamond
production too, but it hasn't prevented them from
becoming a 2nd-world economy.
And? Go on.
If Bush attacks Iran he'll be making Russia richer
and more powerful at the expense of the United
States.
You sure about that ?
Yes.
What's the value of those nuclear facility
contracts that Iran hasn't paid for yet ?
Whatever. Pick whatever number makes your *****
hard. It makes no difference. It's still tiny compared
to the volume of gas Russia is already selling, never
mind what a small price increase would mean to that
volume.
They're talking about selling about 2 million tons of
natural gas a year to the United States, and the U.S.
market is quite small to them, compared to Europe.
And don't forget weapon sales. Bush attacks Iraq
and countries up to their neck in poverty -- like
Venezuela -- started throwing $Billions$ at Russia
for weapons.
Let me get the logic straight here. Venezuela becomes
less at risk from a US attack
Are you fucking insane? Less at risk?
They have less than 100 combat aircraft!
Iraq had the biggest airforce in the entire middle east,
back in 1990 before the first Bush war, with 500
combat aircraft.
You're just contradicting me for the sake of contradiction.
Less at risk? Yeah, in the same way that a quarter is
closer to a billion dollars than a nickle... Sheesh!
so they decide to spend massively on new
Russian weapons with money they don't have.
Venezuela could make itself invasion-proof by simply
having the government own up to it's responsibilities.
It's reall, really sweet to give away oil to the poor, and
to sell it at hefty discounts to charities and neighboring
states, but it's a violation of the government's moral
obligation.
The government is morally obligated to support the
people of Venezuela, not the people of Cuba or any
other country. The money doesn't belong to Chavez.
He's supposed to be the President, not the owner of
the country. The country is neck-high in poor, and
every single last one of them would much rather have
the cash then seen it handed away to some other
country.
If Chavez took his moral responsability seriously, and
attacked poverty in his own damn country, Venezuela
would be invasion proof. If the revenue went to housing,
and sewers, schools, hospitals & roads, instead of
propping up other countries, the people of Venezuela
would never accept change. If you give it to the
people, then anyone who tries to take it away from
them makes the people their enemy.
This is all making perfect JTEM-sense now.
You're an idiot. You're ruled by your emotions.
You don't like me so you spring to whatever
rationalizations your simple mind can grasp.
Oh gee JTEM.. do tell us the reason.. we're all
on the edge of our seats here..
Oh, shut the ***** up. You live in a black & white
world, one where reality is your enemy.
Grow up then get back to me.

I don't base estimates off picking random numbers. You're dismissing the
value of the Iranian nuclear contracts without providing any firm numbers.
What you're saying is vladmir putin will blithly look away while the
Iranian theocracy is dissolved and the Americans 'appropriate' all the
oil and gas which should have been payment for the past 10 years of work
the russians put into those Iranian nuclear facilities.
I'd say there were 2 chances of this happening.. no way, and no how. The
US starts fighting Iran and it is a sure thing Russia will get involved.
It makes no difference. It's still tiny compared

You think tying up the US military in Iraq, Iran, AND Afghanistan
makes Venezuela more at risk ? You are the insane one here my friend.
The US is more a danger to it's own fighting men and women than to
Venezuela.
All your arguments are based off false or very weakly grounded assumptions.
If you start with more firm premises then you might have valid arguments.

It doesn't matter. You're nit-picking. Whatever
number you want to attach to those deals -- make
them as high as you'd like -- it can't compare
to the potenital increase in profit Russia would
see.
The loss of Iranian oil in 1979 meant a world-wide
shortage, and of course price increases. We're
more vulnerable now to an oil shortage than we
were then.
So Russia makes lots more money off their oil
exports.
But there oil exports are nothing compared to
their natural gas. Russia is #1 in natural gas
reserves, and the loss of Iran would send gas
prices through the roof.
What you're saying is vladmir putin will
blithly look away while the Iranian theocracy

What, you live under a rock or something?
Iran is like three times the size of Iraq.
If we go into Iran it could be decades before
there's any stable energy exports.
You think tying up the US military in Iraq, Iran,
AND Afghanistan makes Venezuela more at risk ?
Irrelevant. Venezuela DID sign fat contracts with
the Russians, buying billions of dollars worth of
weapons.
It DID happen. Past tense. Yeah, even with the
U.S. Army already in Iraq.
You are the insane one here my friend.
Huh? You haven't got a fucking clue...
All your arguments are based off false or very
weakly grounded assumptions.
Seek help. No, really. Seek help.
