Object: II.40 - The down to earth version
II.40
Un peu apres non point longue intervalle.
Par mer & terre sera fait grand tumulte,
Beaucoup plus grande sera pugne navale,
Feus, animaux, qui plus feront d'insulte.
Line 4 - "Feux violents, qui intensifieront l'attaque"
Shortly thereafter - no great time, in fact -
By land and sea great tumult there shall be:
Much greater shall the conflict be at sea:
Violent fires thrown in against the attacked.
The largely naval war of 1499 to 1503 between Venice and the Ottoman
Turks (including some French involvement) that followed shortly after
the events of II.39 above, and during the course of which the Turks
conquered Montenegro and overran various strategic centres including
Lepanto (on the gulf of Corinth) and Navarino (in the south-western
Peloponnese). Nostradamus is evidently drawn particularly to the
dramatic incident in which, in a battle off Navarino in 1499, the
leading Ottoman captain Borrak, grappled by at least two Venetian
vessels at once, set fire to all three ships in a suicidal act of sheer
desperation, to the horror of the entire Venetian fleet.

Anything you have to prove Nostradamus was aware of this?
C II -Q40 Vn peu apres non point longue interualle.
Par mer et terre sera fait grand tumulte,
Beaucoup plus grande sera pugne nauale,
Feus, animaux, qui plus feront d'insulte.
A little while later (not at all a long interval), There shall be a
great turmoil by land and sea.
Much the greater shall be the naval battle--- Fires, animals-- which
shall bear the assault more.
Line 4. 'animaux' looks odd.

Ummm.. I couldn't prove Nostradamus was aware of this, any more than I
can prove that you are aware of the events of Pearl Harbor. But since
this was more or less contemporary to Nostradamus, there is no reason
to suppose that he hadn't heard about it, or indeed read about it
during his travels. After all, the Medici library was the largest in
Europe..

Aah but whose version of Pearl Harbour?
The Hollywood or the real
Also was not Nostradamus a late comer to the Medici clan, i.e. he had
written his Prophecies before befriending said Medici's and those times
being much more parochial

Nostradamus went to Italy in 1548 (prior to writing the prophecies) and
spent two years travelling around Italy (reported in Venice, Genoa and
Savona). Now, whether Nostradamus was at that point of time a part of
the Medici *In-Crowd" is not relevant, since the Medici library was a
*Public* library, full of ancient and historical manuscripts.
