Finally, Israel moves in the ground force. Enough of this clusterfuck.
May Hezbullah find their rightful place in hell.
It now appears Israel is facing a division of Iranian regulars.
This may take a little while.

Division? Where did you see, read, or hear that? This should get real interesting.

Sorry if I've misquoted, but I'm sure I read something today
which quoted some Israeli ranking military officer saying he
believes they are facing a regular division of Iranian
revolutionary guard.
It was in the news with a change of Israeli military command
in the war operations. Well, if true I'm sure we'll hear more.
Here is one very recent quote.
"What we face is like an infantry division (approx. 10,000 troops)
with state-of-the-art weaponry, including nightvision equipped rifles.
It is like a well equipped infantry division made up of several
brigades deployed along our border and totally guided with planning
from Iranian revolutionary guards who are inside Lebanon."

Perhaps this was the quote I read (once again, sorry if
this was a false alarm).

Sounds like a false alarm. None the less, fighting an army that hides among civillians is tough. In
the end, Allah will be eatting fried pork steak. It a shame Hezbullah doesn't pop off a chemical
warhead over Haifa. If they did, Israel could wrap up this entire operation in about 30 minutes.
Hehe.

20 days max. Israel will initially push their armored columns to Latani River. Should take 3-5 days.
Perhaps some light engagement on the way. Hezbullah knows not to engage the columns directly.
They'll hang out for a day or two for resupply. Then they'll turn around and head south, se, and sw
in a scorched earth campaign. Anything that moves will die. Ground troops will flush out the dug in
Hezbollah forces and air power will slaughter them. It's too bad Israel doesn't have the tremendous
air power of America's B52's. Saturation bombing from a squadron of BUFF's would have Hezbullah
crying for a suck off of Mohammad's nut sack. Have to admit, Hezbullah is tough. They have a rigid
ideology similar to the Nazi SS. Probably why many in Europe admire them.
In the end, good shall prevail. If for some reason the operation goes badly for the Israelis, Syria
could jump into the game. Iran? Probably not. Distance and difficult logistics would get in the way.
Not to mention that US Carrier groups CV-63 and CVN-65 are making their presence known in the area.
Either CVN-72 or CVN-74 have broken off their EastPac duty and are steaming for the Med Ocean now.
They'll park it off Cyprus. Three carrier groups in the region at once? Not even the invasion of
Iraq had that type of force presence. They're there to make sure Iran doesn't try anything cute with
our boys in Iraq. If they do, it'll be kabab-e kubideh on the border. Just add seasoning. :-)

More like 20 years. The last war lasted about 2 decades, and
Hezbollah merely became stronger. You can't kill Hezbollah, unless
you kill all the Lebanese.

take at least several months (less if Israel floods the

The hezbolla are the Lebanese. The Iranians have recruited from
the location populations so killing civilians is about the
same as killing hezbolla. In effect, Lebanon is a puppet
state of Iran.

It's going to amount to the same thing. Finding all the rockets
hidden in houses and bunkers means finding all the hezbolla guarding
them... and they can't very well perform searches with militants
sniping at them everywhere.
Even after flooding the area with 60,000 troops, Israel is
going to suffer significant casualties before it's all over.
They've already lost 80+ soldiers and it's only been 4 weeks.

More like 20 years. The last war lasted about 2 decades, and
Hezbollah merely became stronger. You can't kill Hezbollah, unless
you kill all the Lebanese.
20 days is unrealistic. Taking out 2000 militants who are
hiding, well entrenched, and know the neighborhood, will
take at least several months (less if Israel floods the
area with troops, which appears imminent).
The hezbolla are the Lebanese. The Iranians have recruited from
the location populations so killing civilians is about the
same as killing hezbolla. In effect, Lebanon is a puppet
state of Iran.
The objective is to remove Hezbullah rockets from the 20 miles zone. Not
kill all the fighters. Basic search and destroy. The IDF doesn't need to
occupy or hold ground. Like I said........a scorched earth campaign.
You consider 80 soldiers in 4 weeks a lot? America lost 6000 in 4 weeks during the process of one
WWII battle.

Lol. Hezbollah killed 15 Israeli soldiers today. That's pretty good

Lebanon a graveyard for the Israeli invaders. Good for the Hezbollah

I'd say both sides are gonna kick each others arses pretty
bad. The winner (if you choose to call it that) will be the
side with people still alive after the shooting stops, and
that is probably going to be Israel.

Of course Israel will kill more, especially more civilians. During
Israel's last invasion of Lebanon, the deaths were disproportionate,
but Hezbollah won, by forcing Israel out. The same thing happened in
Vietnam. The Vietnamese lost over 2 million people, but they were
still sucessful in forcing the U.S. out.
Hezbollah, is like Rocky - they're not gonna go down, no matter how
badly they're hit. Israel will get worn out, just as it did during
it's last Lebanese invasion. The difference this time is Hezbollah is
far more powerful than before. Israel's nose will quite deservedly
get bashed in far worse.

Hezbollah troops happen to live in Lebanon, schlomo. And from the
looks of it, Hezbollah is disciplined, well trained, and unlike the
Israelis, not afraid to die for their country.

I think the airliner thing out of Britain was the 'big event'.
They shot their load and it fizzled, no bullets, empty magazine.
Interesting thing is those airline terrorists don't appear to
be linked to any known terror groups... they're just young hothead
militants connected to a central facilitator (a British national
living in Pakistan as it turns out).
