Israel to lobby ABC over nerve gas documentary

The Israeli government will lobby Australia's national broadcaster to ditch
plans to screen a controversial BBC documentary on the Jewish state.
The program, Israel's Secret Weapon, asserts that Israel has used nerve gas
against Palestinians and possesses an arsenal of chemical, biological and
nuclear weapons.
ABC Television today said the program would be screened but it had not yet been
scheduled.
Israel's ambassador to Australia, Gaby Levy, said he would ask the ABC to
reconsider airing the program.
Head of Israel's government press service, Daniel Seaman, said the BBC program
bordered on Nazi propaganda and anti-Semitism.
Israeli officials have been banned from appearing on the BBC as a result of the
program and visa restrictions have been imposed on BBC journalists.
But Mr Levy said no such action would be taken against the ABC because it was
not involved in the documentary's production.
"I'm going to of course appeal to the ABC and tell them what our arguments are
for them to reconsider (screening) it," Mr Levy told AAP.
"We're not going to take any measures simultaneously with what we're doing with
the BBC in Israel, it's not the same."
Mr Levy said the program demonised Israel and was the latest chapter in the
BBC's anti-Israel campaign.
"The thrust of the program was demonising Israel by presenting and portraying it
as a pariah state, a country of the axis of evil if you want," he said.
"Every country has a right to have secrets if they belong to its own security,
self-defence and so on."
A publicist with ABC TV said it was not known when the documentary would be
aired.
"It's definitely in our system, we will be showing it, we just don't know when,"
she said.

Even if true, as long as there is a single state in the world that
doesn't recognize Israel's right to exist, not to mention still technically
at war with it, Israel MUST have every and any WMD that the US,
Russia or any other state probably has. The Arab and Muslim world has been
at war against Israel for over 50 years trying to destroy the tiny
Jewish state. Why shouldn't it have everything and anything needed to destoy
its sworn enemies? Once Israel is fully recognized by everyone in the world,
and fully at peace, with NATO membership so that it can count on the US
nuclear umbrella to protect it, it might no longer need such weapons.
And even then, can it trust the US to protect it when the US sells three times
as much arms to the Arabs as it sells to Israel!? Why are there no BBC
documentaries on the huge volume of US, French, Russian, UK and other arms sales
to nations that do not recognize Israel and are still technically at war
with it to at least balance off these one-sided anti-Israel pieces it so loves
to promote?

I think we are talking about NERVE gas, which is illegal under
international law (though I bet the Russians, the US and others, including
ISrael, probably do have), and TEAR gas which every police department in
the world is allowed to have.

I think the irrefutable proof is not there, but the evidence was from, I
think, a documentary film producer who went over to the Territories and
did a lot of research on this, interviewing 100's of people. The
gassing occurred around December 2001-February 2002, if I am not
mistaken, and I think it took place in Gaza. Appears to be some sort of
modified nerve gas, and the damage was not nearly as great as one would
find with standard nerve agent. The evidence was based on doctor's
reports of symptoms of the victims, which symptoms suspiciously resemble
a nerve agent. But all attempts to isolate the agent and smuggle it out
for analysis were smashed by "Israel". Google it and look it up. I
don't have time. The piece I read was on Media Monitors Net, and was
authored by the documentary film producer.

weigh the evidence, and it seems quite likely that Israel does have these,
has every intent on using them, and probably has used some in the past in

You want irrefutable proof? You will never get it, since you will always
refute the evidence. But as I said, you have raised the bar. The source is
not nutcase WND, or Newsmax, so ease up on the emotional, fanatical decision
that it must be false, just because it shows Israel in what appears to be in
an unfavourable, yet very likely true, light.
