Israeli Defense Chief Says Iran Strike Possible
JERUSALEM (Nov. 10) - The deputy defense minister suggested Friday that
Israel might be forced to launch a military strike against Iran's
disputed nuclear program - the clearest statement yet of such a
possibility from a high-ranking official.
"I am not advocating an Israeli pre-emptive military action against
Iran and I am aware of its possible repercussions," Deputy Defense
Minister Ephraim Sneh, a former general, said in comments published
Friday in The Jerusalem Post. "I consider it a last resort. But even
the last resort is sometimes the only resort."
Sneh's comments did not necessarily reflect the view of Israel's
government or of Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, said government
spokeswoman Miri Eisin.
Olmert, who was arriving in Washington on Sunday, said he was confident
in the U.S. handling of the international standoff over Iran's nuclear
program. The Bush administration and other nations say is a cover for
developing atomic weapons, but Tehran says the program is peaceful.
"I have enormous respect for President Bush. He is absolutely
committed," Olmert said in an interview on NBC's "Today" show. "I know
that America will not allow Iran to possess nuclear weapons because
this is a danger to the whole Western world."
The United States and its European allies have proposed a raft of
sanctions to try to curb the country's nuclear development.
Israel sees Iran as the greatest threat to its survival. Hard-line
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has called for Israel's
destruction, and Israelis do not believe his claims that Iran's nuclear
program is meant to develop energy, not arms.
Israel crippled Iraq's atomic program 25 years ago with an airstrike on
its unfinished nuclear reactor. Experts say Iran has learned from
Iraq's mistakes, scattering its nuclear facilities and building some
underground.
Sneh's tough talk is the boldest to date by a high-ranking Israeli
official. Olmert and other Israeli leaders frequently discuss the
Iranian threat in grave terms, but stop short of threatening military
action.
Years of diplomacy have failed to persuade Iran to modify its nuclear
program so it can't develop weapons.

They've hinted that & alluded to that over the past couple of years --
i wouldn't be
at all surprised if this nuclear nightmarish conflagration comes to
fruition sometime
in 2007......
I'd be stearing well clear of the Middle East & neighboring European
countries in 2007
when this nuclear conflagration occurs, unless one wants an unhealthily
massive dose
of radiation.....

HERE IS MY PREVIOUS COMMENT ON YOUR GHOST STORY:
HE CAN GO TO HELL. YOUR STORY IS A GHOST STORY. ARABS AND MUSLIMS ARE
DISTINGUISHING BETWEEN WHAT IS REAL AND WHAT IS GHOSTLY.
I LIKE TO SEE THESE SAVAGES TRY. HITLER'S DEFEAT WILL BE WESTERN
DEFEAT. THE SAME STRATEGY.
I REMEMBER BLACKS DOING THE SAME THING THE SAME WAY AND EXPECTED TO GET
DIFFERENT RESULTS IN THEIR PUBLIC SCHOOLS. THEY COULD NOT. SO THEY
STARTED TO CHEAT STUDENTS' ACHIEVEMENT-PUSH THEM UP, PUSH THEM UP AND
THEY ARE WAY DOWN. THAT IS ISRAEL AND THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,
THOUGHTLESS, MINDLESS YET SELFISH AND GREEDY STATES GROPING IN THE
DARK.

be forced by what? Don't you just love passive voice?

How can a "pre-emptive strike" be a last resort? And if it is the only
"resort"
then he is advocating it, isn't he?

"I have enormous respect for President Bush."

LOL

"He is absolutely
committed," (to what?) Olmert said in an interview on NBC's "Today" show. "I know
that America will not allow Iran to possess nuclear weapons because
this is a danger to the whole Western world."

No...no it is not a danger to the whole western world. It is a fear
held by the Israelis
and only the Israelis.

The United States and its European allies have proposed a raft of
sanctions to try to curb the country's nuclear development.

Great idea...make them broke and desperate...then they won't nuke
their perceived greatest enemy.

Years of diplomacy have failed to persuade Iran to modify its nuclear
program so it can't develop weapons.

Years of diplomacy? This rhetoric all started months ago. Sounds a
whole
lot like Iraqi weapons of mass destruction to me.
My suggestion to the Israelis is...if you don't want to get nuked,
stop treating goyim
like animals, and stop talking about pre-emptive strikes.

Interestingly, today at work, one of the teachers I work with
(M.S. in Politcal Science, but teaches both Poli Sci and Economics)
said to me..."Ya know Shasta, we have got to stop letting Israel
dictate our foreign policy. But if you say anything to that
effect in an editorial, people immediately label you an
anti-semite even if what you say is true. Israel seems
untouchable."
He went on to explain that Israel's policies that alienate
the rest of the world are extremely self-destructive, and suggested
that if they continue, Israel is in for a very unpleasant
surprise.
The guy makes a lot of sense. The sad part is that
these policies are religious teachings laid out plainly
in the talmud. And if a Jew is enlightened enough to
move away from rigid racial chauvinism, he is
immediatley ostracized by the Jewish community.
In one example, a Jewish man with excellent
credentials had obtiained a publisher for
a novel criticizing Israel for its overzealousness.
The publisher, at the very last minute, decided
not to publish the book. The author claimed that
it was wealthy Jewish interests that condemned
the book's publishing and put pressure on the company--
even though the author was writing IN DEFENSE
of Israel and for ITS BENEFIT--in an attempt
to expose its mistakes before they destroy the nation.

So what are you suggesting, that we stop forming our own opinions
regarding Israel and instead just believe what you say ? Perhaps
we should round up the Jews and put them in camps, possibly for
extermination. We could use a scapegoat right now... we could
blame the Iraq fiasco on the Jews !
In another time we might call you Adolph Hitler, possibly
Joseph Goebbels, of the Nationalist Socialist Party.

I sincerely hope you are able to distinguish between accurate
criticism of a bias in U.S. foreign policy and a call for genocide.
Seems like you're trying to blur that enormously thick and very
clear line. The atrocities of Nazi Germany do not in any way justify
Israel's behavior in the last 50 years nor should they restrict
sober criticism of human rights violations and apartheid.
