Vietnam ought to serve a few lessons for the current administration,

Truth in Lending, Truth in Packaging, Guaranteed Student Loans, Aircraft Noise
Abatement, and a number of safety, health, and nature protection and park

Yes, he greatly expanded the Vietnam War to protect his own political career,

us on a par with Burma? I have seen countries where few pay taxes and these
countries are not worth living in. If you are thinking that your tax rate is
high and therefore we must have a major welfare state, forget it. The overall
US tax rate is 30.1%. Germany has 38.1% and France 43.8%, while Denmark has
49.9%. The US is remarkably chintzy in federal benefits despite our politicians
continually bragging about how wealthy we are. The recent tax cut in marginal
income taxes for the higher income groups would fund the shortage of the next 75
years of Medicare three times over but while we cannot afford to fund a decent
Medicare drug benefit (forget this thing that just passed the House), we hardly
flinch to fund immoral unjustified bombings and invasions of other nations.
Your perception is unreal. You should be wondering why we don't have a decent
fully funded welfare state.
