Object: John Cusack to Bring Us Edgar Cayce In A Big Way
I'm so glad somebody is doing this and it sounds like Cusack is the
right one to do this well.
Edgar Cayce's life story and his work should be known to the world.
The excerpt below is pretty much the content pertaining to Edgar Cayce.
Here's the full artice:
http://www.azcentral.com/ent/movies/articles/0728cusack0728.html
Cusack next heads to Bulgaria to shoot the Bruce Beresford thriller "The
Contract," co-starring Oscar-winner Morgan Freeman, in one of his rare
villainous roles. His is also developing a project about the late
paranormal expert Edgar Cayce. The project is a labor of love for
Cusack, who wrote the screenplay with his father before he died.
"I just think that world (of psychic phenomena) is fascinating," he
says, adding that he is a big believer in instinct and intuition. "You
wake up and you know something's up with somebody."

Thanks for the info, Su.
Are you on a mailing list or something that picks up on websites that
have Cayce-related bits mentioned? I'm kind of connected, but I'm not
getting any of this info from my usual channels. Er ... sources. Um
.... well, whatever. ^_^

I have a "gOOgle ALERT" for Edgar Cayce.
Everytime his name is in a news article it sends it to me. I get some of
the strangest things sometimes but it's worth weeding thru for great
little bits like this.
Okay, just for fun.....who would you like to see play Cayce and
Gertrude?

I'm not sure who Nick is but I'm guessing Jessica as in Simpson?
Ewwwwe! That's BLASPHEMOUS!
Okay seriously!
I was thinking Leo Decapprio as Cayce, Katie Holmes as Gertrude and Kate
Winslet as Gladys, minus the accent of course! :)

LOL! RIGHT!
Can we also fit Michael Jackson in there somewhere for his big comeback?
;) He could play Morty Blumenthal, the stockbroker from NYC! :)
Johnny Depp is *overly* handsome for the part I think. I am looking at a
Cayce family photo in one of my books and I really *can* see Leo
Dicaprio playing him.

Maybe Jackson could play himself, giving the doc a big problem how do
you cure this, short of Euthanasia?
But the craft of acting is to act, Depp could do it at a snip, but
looking at Gertie, Wynona with a make-over!

Yeah, hard to picture that!
We have the body, Michael Jackson Age 47.........CALLING ALL UNIVERSAL
FORCES!! This body has seen the most awful EARTH CHANGES!! :-O

I have no doubt Johnny could do it. I just don't think he's right for
it. Even though I have his driver's license on my fridge! (It's TRUE-I
do!)
Okay..yer money's on Depp, mine's with Leo and we'll leave Gertrude up
in the air.
I hope "Mr. C" doesn't mind our casting this film in advance. ;)

Poor old Whacko just a playground for plas surgeons.
It all depends though on the budget, with a good role, it only needs
someone able to assume the character, the voice or diction can be
mimicked, then again would there be a young Eddie?

That would be great, but I'm not sure most producers would feel very
comfortable with a kid that sees dead people, auras, angels, and can
memorize books just by sleeping on them - without it being a fictitious
character.

Yes, they certainly do. I've never been close enough to a pelican to
see their eyes well - they've always seemed very skittish around people
when I've been to Florida.

I guess they are much like squirrels....if they are used to being fed,
the tamer they are and come up closer to you.
I remember a few years back while fishing on the beach, I kept throwing
my bait shrimp to the pelicans and they would catch it in their mouths.
They catch rather well!

I don't think it's important for an actor/actress to look like the

I think it depends on who it is.
I think it is important that whom ever plays him does resemble him
because Edgar Cayce's personality and mannerisms are virtually unknown
to those who will be seeing the movie but we can really identify with
the pictures we have seen of him.
Having died in 1945, before most of us were even born, all we have of
him are the photos, readings and the books written about him. He's not
known in the sense that somebody like say...Ronald Regan is known. For
one, we can remember how Ronnie's voice sounded clear as day.
That's just my opinion, you'll get conflicting answers as well if you
ask the boys and girls over at the St. Augustine School for the Deaf and
Blind. ;)

Geez, are you ever asking the wrong person - I know practically squat
about actors and actresses (except, I know some of the $limotologi$t$).
How about the guy who was in Catch Me if you Can, the conterfeiter guy.
He showed more than one emotion, and Cayce was a fairly complex
personality. For Gertrude, she was mostly sweet, from what I hear, so I
don't think it would take much of an actress to play her, just someone
better than the person who did Arwen on Lord of the Rings (although,
that could have been a sucky director, but everything else in LOTR was
good, so I'm assuming it was her).
