I've lurked this group for several years now, although I've never
posted. You guys all do a fantastic job in covering the noteworthy
stories. I am always fascinated when I stop in to APN, as I can always
expect to see something that sparks my interest. I'm no expert on
politics, Nostradamus or the calamities of war, so this group is always
enjoyable to read.
Aside from the occassional back and forth flaming, you guys provide an
excellent conversation every single day. I always enjoy Uncle Wally's
doom-and-gloom end of the world posts, Peter Lemesurier's explanations
of Nosty's work (I just saw Peter on the History channel the other
night), and lately the stuff I've read from Simon Tay. You're all great.
I may not post again in the immediate future, but I just felt compelled
to thank everyone in this group for always keeping my attention. I will
continue to check in every day.
Back to lurking I go! lol
Take care, everyone,
~ Ron, Detroit, MI, USA

Truly, this is a special place with a lot of neat people.
They did choke, but they're young yet and got some good experience in
October.
I went to Comerica for the first time back in June of this year to see them
come from behind and beat the Reds after a Griffey grand slam. Hadn't been
to downtown Daytwa in a long time. Interesting to see the place again as an
adult. No place on earth like Detroit for the landscape and the people.
Rock on.

What, Ron, that some 8 year old might (Doc) be pretending to be a ring
announcer from Detroit? Imagine that. :-)

For sure, "The D" is a great city-- despite the bad rep we get. I
actually have the oddest job ever-- I'm a ring announcer in the
professional wrestling business-- so I've actually worked a few shows
inside of Comerica Park.
It's just scary to think that half of the stuff I read in here could
very well happen in Detroit-- such as nuke terrorism. I live right on
the border of Dearborn, MI, which holds the largest Muslim population in
all of America. Yikes! lol

Take comfort in noticing that almost all terror attacks outside of the
Middle East have been in in places close (within 100 miles or so) to the
ocean. There hasn't been a terror attack that far inland as far back as I
can rembmber!!

A different job for sure. Sounds like a really interesting job for sure.
I'll bet you've met some interesting characters.

My family was very familiar with Dearborn. I've wondered about terrorism
there but I was leaning toward the thought that with that large Muslim
population you'd be safer there than anywhere else.
Perhaps terrorists wouldn't endanger large numbers of their own people.
Let's hope we're all a bit safer now. Good elections, talk of phased
withdrawal, etc.
Enjoy.............

I have a feeling Bush is going to drag his heels on that one.
He's still seeing a 'victory' in Iraq as the Holy Grail of his
presidency (even though he won't say what victory would look like,
just as he won't set a time-table for withdrawal... I guess he'll
just know it when he sees it).
Ironic. He wouldn't put enough into it to assure a victory, and
now he won't pull out without a victory. The democrats really
despise him, but have to put up with this idiot for 2 years. Bush
is the very definition of a lame-duck... NOBODY is dealing with him.
I heard an analyst recently say that when you go to war you
hope for the best but plan for the worst. What they did in the
case of Iraq was to plan for the best-case scenario, and when it
didn't turn out to happen then things just continued getting
worse and will drag on indefinitely.
Enjoy.............

The cityscape of Detroit was featured in the cult classic movie
starring Peter Weller as "Robocob" police officer Alex Murphy, was it
not ?!?!?.....
Enjoyed that movie so much that I recorded it onto DVD !!!
The movie street scenes were filmed in Detroit, only it was supposedly
set in our apocalyptical future & was renamed "Delta City".
Great stuff !!!!
