Kerry for quick fix in Kosovo | 15:54 July 28 | BBC

LONDON -- Wednesday – US Democratic presidential hopeful John Kerry
has told voters of Albanian extraction that, if he wins the election,
the US will again take a leading role in the Balkans and especially in
Kosovo.
In a statement carried by the BBC, Kerry promised a quick solution for
Kosovo's final status and dismissed any proposals for the division of
the province along ethnic lines.
Washington Balkans observer Daniel Server, commenting on the
difference in Democrat and Republican policies on Kosovo, said that if
the Bush administration remains in power it would be happy with any
agreement between Pristina and Belgrade as long as it did not endanger
the sovereignty of Macedonia or Bosnia.

That should be popular with the Europeans, keeping the
Balkans tinderbox under tight lid. The brainless toad
Bush just doesn't think of stuff like this.

You should apologize for that remark ... toads are light-years more
intelligent then Bush.
Bush ranks just below a rock or a pile of dirt.

Guy goes into a bar with a duck under his arm, and asks for
a beer. Bartender says, "what are you doing in my bar with
that pig?" Guy says, "pardon me, this is a duck." Bartender
says, "pardon me, I was talking to the duck."

I do not like either Bush or Kerry.
I agree that we should maintain a minimal trip wire rpesence in the
region. However, due to current realities created by Bush's poor
leadership, we cannot afford to continue on with our burden of current
Balkan peacekeeeping missions. We'll have to rely on the Europeans and
give them back up.
If you are suggesting that you support Kerry's probable "quick fix" I
guess you support Greater Albania. If you support greater Albania,
then there will be more tie downs of US & international forces in
other budding greater ethnic entities taking the Kosovo cue, such as
greater Hungary, greater Serbia (again...if the Albanians could get
theirs, why not us!?), Greater Romania, on and on.
They are both very bad leaders.
You really believe Kerry is going to magically get other countries to
relieve our burden in Iraq?
They see it as America's mess, and they will maintain the same
position thet had back in the beginning of the year: "This is
America's mess, and we don't really want to get involved, even if
Kerry is not Bush."
As a matter of fact, it would not surprise me if Kerry ends up
*increasing* the number of US troops already there once he realizes
that just not being Bush isn't enough. After doing this, he'll try to
Iraqify the war and Arabize it, since the only countries who will in
the end want to contribute to Iraqi stability ops are Arab countries
who fear that Iraq will be a vehicle of anti-secular fundamentalist
instability.

No, I have no such illusions. No sane leader in the world is
going to send troops in there. Our best bet is get the Iraqi
military populated as quickly as possible and let them run
around stomping out Bush fires.
