Worse still, his parents are both Canadians! His grandfather, Tommy
Douglas, former premier of Saskatchewan, is considered the father of the
Canadian socialized medical system.
Kiefer and his mother spout off on trhe subject every so often. Shirley
Douglas is actually quite an activist.

I have no problem with socialized medicine, nor do most Canadian
conservatives. I think we should allow private services for those who want
them, as well, though. Health care is one of the things killing my
employer: GM pays $1500 per car stateside vs $150 per up here. GM made a
$500 million profit in Canada last year. Toyota is building their newest
plant in Ontario, in part for that reason.
