Kyrgyz SNB planned operation with the Russian, Kazakh and Uzbek secret
services' assistance
The operation of the Kyrgyz SNB on apprehending two groups from a
terrorist gang connected to the infamous Islamic party of Turkestan
(former Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan) was planned with the help of
the Russian, Kazakh and Uzbek secret services. As AIA reported
yesterday, in two coordinated raids in South-Eastern Kyrgyzstan (Kyrgyz
part of Ferghana Valley) 12 terrorists were detained. Daily Vechernii
Bishkek reported today that Kyrgyz secret services raided 12 apartments
in the cities of Uzgen and Osh. Three terrorists with automatic weapons
managed to escape, however the hunt continues and they will be
apprehended, local secret services' sources said to the edition. The
gang members were armed, their apartments were full of propagandistic
Islamist materials and books. Some of the detained visited recently
Arab states. Some of the detained had Uzbek passports issued in the
Andijan area, and they might have been participating in the Islamist
uprising in this Uzbek town. Local experts noted to the edition that
the gang might have been a part of the organization plotting to
overthrow Uzbek government. It was also noted that the cars belonging
to several gang members had Russian plates.
