Lacayo: US Seeks Anti-Venez Ally
Managua, Mar 1 (Prensa Latina) Nicaraguan analyst Aldo Diaz Lacayo
asserted the visit of US Undersecretary of State Thomas Shannon aims at
including Nicaragua in the common front Washington wants to concoct
against Venezuela.
"Shannon=B4s visit cannot be seen as separate from Secretary of State
Condoleezza Rice=B4s speech over Venezuela and the international plot
Washington is mounting against Caracas at regional forums," he
stressed.
Diaz Lacayo added the US will try to use the Organization of American
States and the Democratic Charter on President Hugo Chavez to achieve
this end.
The outstanding historian considered, as well, that Shannon, arriving
in Managua shortly, also plans to implement a program to thwart the
Sandinista electoral triumph in the November 5 general elections.
He explained for Washington a victory of the Sandinista National
Liberation Front (FSLN) would imply the strengthening of Chavez=B4s
position across Latin America, especially in the central region.
