Lack Of Donors Forces RNC To Lay Off Phone Workers
By: Logan Murphy on Saturday, June 2nd, 2007 at 6:45 AM - PDT
Faced with significantly declining contributions from grassroots donors,
the Republican National Committee has fired its entire team of telephone
solicitors, according to a report in Friday's Washington Times.
"Faced with an estimated 40 percent falloff in small-donor contributions
and aging phone-bank equipment that the RNC said would cost too much to
update, Anne Hathaway, the committee's chief of staff, summoned the
solicitations staff and told them they were out of work, effective
immediately, fired staff members told The Times," Ralph Z. Hallow wrote
in the paper. Read more…
Awww…couldn't happen to a more deserving party. The formerly well-oiled
machine that was the RNC is reduced to laying people off and unable to
afford new equipment for their phone banks. The Moonie Times not
unexpectedly cites Bush's stance on immigration as the cause, but it's
obvious to anyone who has paid attention that the Republican Party is
experiencing death by a thousand cuts and immigration is not the major
problem.

Immigration is a distraction from major policy failures and an extremely
disliked executive branch.
One might consider that it's the neocons' last stand -- nothing else has
worked well for them.
It's last stand from right-wingers who'd like us to believe they are
motivated by patriotism and fervent adherence to the rule of law, when
many of us on the Left know fully well that it is closet racism.
Some might be excused from the racist motivation because they're simply
naive or stupid. Stupidity is, alas, seemingly spreading throughout all
strata of our society...witness the fairy element, represented by idiots
like JTEM. Fairies used to be intelligent and perceptive people, witty and
creative, too. Now, sadly, the fairies' intellectual capacity and charming
personalities are deteriorating rapidly. Some, like JTEM, are reduced down
to robotic verbal repetition (LOL!). I fear for the mental health of the
fairies, like I fear for the health of the honey bees.

Of course your out-of-the-closet anti-relgious bigotry (example, Mitt
Romney) is perfectly wonderful, right hypocrite?

Gettin' hot, Stevie?? LOL!
Let me give you a cool shower --
One, Romney is a far right winger.
Two, Mormons are overwhelmingly conservative in politics.
Three, my contempt for both rides on conservatism, not on religious
belief.
I don't care what crap people want to believe about the unseen, ethereal
realm, but I do care what they do in THIS physical realm when they mix
politics with religious belief.

I know -- the same accusations were made about JFK -- you might
remember. How did you feel about that?

As I said, I pick candidates out for their political stances, not their
religious ones.

Oh, please. You couldn't get any more
disingenuous than trying to paint Romney's
problems in terms of a med deprived
multiple personality disorder.
Fact is, if Romney wasn't a Mormon he would
not even be a candidate. He's the biggest
flip-flopper in American history, having held
many different stands on all the issues. No polls
have him leading, but Mormons as a group have
kept him alive by gushing his campaign with
their support (MONEY$$$$).

Show me where you microphone is, please. I want to talk directly into it,
record my message clearly, and play it back whenever it pleases me...so
show me where all your function buttons are located. Are you rechargeable
or do I have to buy alkaline batteries every so often to keep you juiced
up? Do you have an AC adaptor?

You know so much. What an incredibly informed person you are! How is it
that we're not being charged for your extensive informational services? It
would seem so much knowledge for no fee is just too good to be true!

I didn't know that! How informative!! I am quite in awe! I must tell all

Lack Of Donors Forces RNC To Lay Off Phone Workers

Awww...couldn't happen to a more deserving party. The formerly well-oiled

That's a totally dishonest assessment of the situation. The phone
banks were outdated, and these days there are better ways to raise
money than making telemarketing calls (many people have put themselves
on the *do not call* list anyway). And the RNC denies they have a drop
in *overall* contributions -- see what the article actually says
rather than the (wishful thinking) spin written by your source:
[quoting] There has been a sharp decline in contributions from RNC
phone solicitations, another fired staffer said, reporting that many
former donors flatly refuse to give more money to the national party
if Mr. Bush and the Senate Republicans insist on supporting what these
angry contributors call "amnesty" for illegal aliens.
"Everyone donor in 50 states we reached has been angry, especially in
the last month and a half, and for 99 percent of them immigration is
the No. 1 issue," said the former employee.
The RNC spokeswoman denied that the committee has seen any drop-off in
contributions.
"Any assertion that overall donations have gone down is patently
false," Miss Schmitt said. "We continue to out raise our Democrat
counterpart by a substantive amount (nearly double)." [end quoting]
