Here's another indication where the Bush Administration's heart is,
right in the hip pocket of corporate America.
Commit treason, put American troops in danger and the Bush Justice
Department invests half your fine in your next generation of profits.
My God, how blind do they expect us to be?

ITT fined $100 million for illegal exports
Manufacturer admits to exporting night vision materials to China,
Singapore and Britain without U.S. authorization.
March 27 2007: 1:32 PM EDT
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The leading manufacturer of night vision gear for
the Defense Department has admitted sending classified materials
overseas and will pay a $100 million penalty, according to federal
prosecutors, who say the actions of ITT Corp. have jeopardized the
security of U.S. soldiers.
<snip>
Saying that American soldiers are "the principal victims of ITT's
crimes," U.S. Attorney John Brownlee said he has structured the $100
million penalty so that half of the money is spent by ITT to develop a
next-generation night vision system and "ensure that our soldiers have
the best night vision equipment in the world."
This sounds like one of Doc's better parodies. How in the world can a
company endanger American troops in the field? Are these the same
people that, like corporate shill ***** Cheney, would claim protest
against the war endangers out troops.
This is absolute arrogance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What would you have them do? Put them out of business? Have all the
shareholders forfeit their holdings? The wrongdoing was not a decision
made at the top corporate level. A few individuals at one of ITT's
subsidiaries made a bad mistake. And now, ITT will invest in making a
new generation of superior equipment, which will benefit our military.
And the ITT stockholders will not be excessively punished because of a
few idiots.

Stevie's idea of justice.. defend the companies which break the
laws, and persecute the whistle-blowers.

And what a lot of these companies don't have to do is take a lot of
their own money out of their profits to support R & D. Most of what
the taxpayers pay for in terms of R&D, NASA and other publicly
financed programs, is handed over to corporate America without fee.
We pay for the research, they get their profit margins boosted.
Now they get the fines they're supposed to pay directly funneled back
into R&D.
I wonder how far that 50 million would have gone to clear rats and
roaches out of VA hospitals. Ya gotta have your priorities tho.

Send their board of directors to Guantanamo. Deprive them of sunlight
for 3 months. Make 'em pray with the same kind of muslims that'll be
wearing their night vision goggles while they're sniping at our troops
someday.

Maybe you should call for Congressional hearings.

No, all those Muslims at Guantanamo were innocent bystanders, haven't
you heard? For what reason would innocent people ever be wearing night
vision goggles and sniping at our troops?

Most probably retribution for what the United States has put them through.

What's wrong with a little shock and awe in corporate board rooms? Clean
'em out even if they are innocent! I guess collateral damage is a really bad
thing when you're dealing with rich white men as opposed to poor innocent
Iraqis.
Short of all that liquidate the assets of ITT, sell equipment and
intellectual property to a competitor. Put the confiscated funds to public
use like getting rid of rats and roaches in VA hospitals.
The Justice Department didn't assign blame or levy files against a few
"idiots", for Christ's sake.

It's one of the risks of investing in the stock market, Steven. The
tradeoff is a higher risk that you could lose your money against the
potential (NOT a guarantee!!) that you'll make more money than in secure
investments (govt bonds, CDs, etc). You shouldn't be playing the stock
market if you can't afford to suck it up when one of the companies you
put money into goes belly up, even/especially if they were engaged in
illegal activities.

This is gonna be a full fledged race! Will the islamics or corporate
greed be the first to destroy the evil US empire? Who has killed more
innocent children, bush or osama?
why is no one even permitted to discuss that saudis attacked the world
trade center and why this was covered up? Saudis officially abolished
slavery in 1968 yet women are not allowed to vote, drive or read.
Fillipino maids are commonly owned and treated as slaves with
government approval. Ditto pakistani and indian female children
exported to saudi arabia.
Americans are fighting the war in iraq and soon iran because saudi
kings and princes dare not arm their own populace and prefer to buy
foreign protection since they know they are so hated that fellow sauds
would turn on them.
