Actually, it was moving at a Cat 2 when it 'flooded' the Levees. (I know, because I was
watching the "Minute By Minute" broadcast of CNN.)
It wasn't the 'strength' of the storm, it was the 'direction' of the winds that caused the
majority of the damage.
Katrina has been called the "Perfect Storm" (I know, because I gave it that name) because of
its path. (Major Destruction with a lesser force.)
Few Levees could have withstood the "Back Winds" that Katrina create that day. [Declined by
the Bayou region, and re-gaining strength when moving over the 'Open Water' of Lake
Pontchartrain.]
The damage caused to Lower New Orleans was 'inevitable' under these conditions. (Few
'requirements' to the Levee spec.s could have prevented this from happening).
Sometimes, people just have to realize that they are just not that "Bullet Proof"
(regardless
of how many 'suits' of armor you put up) !!!
Katrina was meant to happen, regardless of how you try to find a way to put a 'Human Face'
on
your need to blame someone.
Man and Nature collided, and Nature WON !!!
