Reporters Fear Being Seen as Anti-terrorist
What are they afraid of? Reporters for left-of-center media are so eager to
avoid appearing anti-terrorist (or being exposed as another Jayson Blair) that
they refuse to say their stories were accurate.
Four journalists at the New York Times, Newsday and Reuters are resisting
subpoenas issued by federal prosecutors in New York in the trial of a lawyer
charged with conspiring to abet terrorists.
All the feds want the writers to do is verify quotations attributed to lawyer
Lynne Stewart. The subpoenas would not violate any First Amendment rights
because there would be no questions about confidential sources or comments off
the record.
The testimony is needed because newspaper stories are not admissible. The
courts wisely classify them as mere hearsay.
You'd think the scandal-plagued Times would be eager to salvage what's left of
its former reputation, but no. The media types fret that their "neutrality"
would suffer if they took a stand against terrorism.
How curious that they never worry about their supposed "neutrality" when they
crank out all their Bush-bashing exaggerations and fictions.

In the Admin's eye's, unless you're willing to die for the Fueher, you're
considered a Liberal ( re traitor ) and an Anti-American. The Fueher is
always right. If you don't believe in the Fueher's great vision, you are a
traitor of the Fatherland.
If you had difficulty with that, just replace the word 'Fueher' with
'Bush'.
