*gag*
People who are nominated for awards reeeeeeally need to have an acceptance
speech written ahead of time in case they win, because they're almost always
nauseating if they don't have a piece of paper in their hand to read from. I
think they suck the oxygen out of the air on the stage or something, because
people turn into blithering idiots. (Stopped watching awards shows years ago,
apparently they haven't changed much).
That said, I'm glad he won. He redefined the documentary style movie with
Farenheit 9/11. Besides, I'm pretty sure I didn't see anything else that was
nominated, so they must have all stunk! :-D

Moore' been getting a lot of bad publicity. From the right before the
elections, from the left after.
But he's still way more famous, more popular, and of course a lot richer,
than before he decided to put on his activist hat, and use everything at his
disposition - mainly his profession - to voice dissent. I thought he put up
a good fight - did what he thought would work, as did many others, but he is
after all such a small man in the BIG scheme of things... Well, if nothing
else, he's at least affected his own industry in a major way in the past few
years. And may even be on his way to becoming the Bill Gates of
Documentaries. Documentaries and Animations - that's where the big bucks
gonna be in the movies - at least that's what Stats say ;-)

My husband recently purchased the movie Fahrenheit 911 and I fell asleep
watching it after about 15 minutes. No, I didn't think it was boring - I
was just tired and it is a big mistake to watch any movie in bed. 9
times out of 10 you'll fall asleep.
We didn't rush to see it when it came out. No need to because we were
already voting for Kerry.
I'll finish watching it soon hopefully. It's on my "to watch" list along
with "White Chicks" and "Dodge Ball", not necessarily in that order ;)

Mmmm, well, I agree with the scary part. Though perhaps for different
reasons.
It was a blatant propaganda piece that the late Dr. Goebells would have
appreciated (political
differences aside).
In short it was a purpose made piece which deliberately distorted
facts and in some places blatantly lied.
Non fiction? Parts of it. "Bowling for Columbine" was similar in concept.
They are both designed to push Moore's political agenda by the medium he is
most skilled at.
Fahrenheit 911 is an important piece of cinema, and probably the most
blatant
attempt to sway the political choices of an entire nation by cinema in
recent history.
The man is a good film maker and knows how to make his points, but it's by
no means
a balanced and dispassionate discussion of the stories portrayed, but a
single minded and
quite skillfull blending of fact and fiction designed to produce a belief in
its teachings.
He claims it's a documentary, but it fails the test of balanced and honest
portrayal.
I would class it as a docu-drama ie a dramatised semi documentary, with a
definite bias.
It seems to have been fairly widely seen, not only in the US but around the
world, yet it
seems not to have changed anyones opinion. Despite the fact it was released
well before
the US Presidential election, the candidate and party that it tried so hard
to crucify still
won convincingly.
So I guess that means the plan didn't work.

HeHe. The other side of the news reporting is what comes out
of Fox News (which they bill as fair and balanced but is about
as biased as it gets). The two sort of balance each other out.

Say WHAT??
You need to check the facts. Then watch fahrenhype 911.
Let me know if you need a copy.
Here's part of a rebuttal on www.SpinSanity.org
(or http://www.spinsanity.org/topics/#MichaelMoore)
Michael Moore's career as a rabble-rousing populist has been marked by a frequent
pattern of dissembling and factual inaccuracy. He distorted the chronology of his first
movie, "Roger & Me"; repeatedly peddled the myth that the Bush administration gave $43
million to the Taliban; published two books, Stupid White Men and Dude, Where's My
Country?, that were riddled with factual errors and distortions; and won an Academy
Award for "Bowling for Columbine," a documentary based on a confused and often
contradictory argument that features altered footage of a Bush-Quayle campaign ad, a
misleading presentation of a speech by National Rifle Association president Charlton
Heston, and other factual distortions.
With his new documentary "Fahrenheit 9/11," which won the prestigious Palme D'Or at the
Cannes Film Festival and was #1 at the US box office last week, Moore has surged to new
prominence -- and come under increasing scrutiny. His staff has made much of elaborate
fact-checking that was reportedly conducted on the film. And fortunately, it appears to be
free of the silly and obvious errors that have plagued Moore's past work, such as the claim
in Stupid White Men that the Pentagon planned to spend $250 billion on the Joint Strike
Fighter in 2001, a sum that represented over 80 percent of the total defense budget request
for the year.
However, "Fahrenheit 9/11" is filled with a series of deceptive half-truths and carefully
phrased insinuations that Moore does not adequately back up. As Washington Monthly
blogger Kevin Drum and others have noted, the irony is that these are the same tactics
frequently used by the target of the film, George W. Bush. Moore and his chief antagonist
have more in common than viewers might think.
The 2000 Florida recount
Reviewing the 2000 election during the opening of the film, Moore uses a quote from CNN
legal commentator Jeffrey Toobin to make a deeply misleading suggestion about the

For helping to polarize the couch - potato blue collar right, or so some
lefties claim. Although most lefties will also claim that all blue collar couch
potato working stiffs are liberal anyway. Though not nearly true.
Michael Moore makes a horrible personal presentation. Unfortunately, that does
count for alot in the red states.

Park, Drawn Together and Blue Colar
TV.
Yep! Blue Collar TV is very funny. Larry the Cable Guy is a nightmare of
a dream date! Jeff Foxworthy...I'd love to just hang out with and go
frog-giggin' or fishin' or somethin' - you know? :)
Drawn Together! Ha-ha!
That's the name of it! (The new cartoon I was describing to Aidan).
I like SOUTHPARK too, but I LOVE Dave Attell and Dave Chappelle
(Chappelle's Show) and RENO-911.

Right you are sweetie! And Chappelle's
Show is a true jewel. He dripping with
multi-talent and I love the guys skits.
I used to go frog gigging as a kid with my
Uncle Goat and Aunt Ora of was that Uncle Ora and Aunt Goat???
Nurse....turn up my morphine drip a little bit more so I can get my distant
memories
fine tuned again.

all universes constantly and at random.

police uniform pants? And he rides a bike!! LOLOLOLOL!
(that's my type of sense of humor).
I've only seen it a couple of times, but I laughed my ***** off at that
guy .. ;)
