Object: My I ask?
If you wouldn't mind, could everyone here that has a tattoo tell me
if you feel like you're "branded like cattle" - see, I've decided to
ignore the scum, but I don't have kill-file on my newsreader (it's not
a feature) - and after careful thought, I think it best that I don't
kill-file him entirely anyway, because he's involved a lot of people
here that I consider friends, and if he becomes too malicious, I don't
want to leave my friends in the dust. *But* I am ignoring him.. for
now.
He says I'm branded like cattle because of my tattoo - since I've
known you guys for so long, and am comfortable with you, do
you mind telling me which of you have tattoos and if you feel like
"cattle" (lol)
Thanks. I do appreciate it.
PS: the tattoo I have *does* have meaning.. it's Celtic; it represents
my Irish roots.

Why would you care about his biased opinion regarding tattoos? I would
not care much about his opinion at all if I were you. I have a tattoo on my
back. A nice one, representing the milkyway, our galaxy as if you look
down on it. It represents my connection to the Cosmos. There is nothing
wrong with tattoos as long it is done properly. And by the nature of my
tattoo I certainly don't feel like cattle.

I don't. I just wanted to see who else has tattoos and if they feel
like his (absurd) accusation: "cattle"!

I would

Cool. See, I also wanted something that expresses me.. mine is
Celtic; represents my Irish roots. It's an awesome design too.

Neither do I. I've just never heard one being referred to as "cattle"
for having a tattoo.

Ask Tony if he feels like a cow when wearing a crucifix... because it *IS* a
brand, showing you're part of a flock/herd...
I don't have any tat's maself, but quite alot of my friends do... and no,
none of them feel like cattle, infact they would claim it sets them appart
from other people (obviously, because not many people have matching
tattoos...), the opposite of them being part of a herd.
He's just trying to poo-poo on your parade... trolling for a favourable
response he can use to start another fight. Honestly, who cares what
thought that low-life has floating around in his stagnant puddle of a mind.
As long as you like it, that's all that matters.

LOL!!!
You Liberals are something else, comparing a tattoo to a religious symbol.

As long as you like it, that's all that >matters.

Typical Liberal BS, it's the old "if it feels good do it" and we know where
that got us.
As if your body is supposed to be a Billboard.

I love it. I got the idea when I was in Ireland over the summer and
went into a tattoo parlor that had a bunch of Celtic tattoos. I
thought: Ahhhh! Finally! I've figured out exactly what I want now..
after pondering the thought of getting one for years, but not quite
sure what to get (seeing as they are on us for life, the decision
cannot be taken lightly on what to get.) But right then and there
I knew that was for me.

Originally, to be a pagan meant that you worshipped the land (and related
polytheistic gods) which gave you life. These days the term is used mainly
as a lump term for anyone who doesn't subscribe to the semetic god, known as
'Yahweh', 'Allah' or 'Jehova'.
Anyone... and I mean EVERYONE, who is of European decent has ancestors who
were 'pagan'... do you believe that your bloodline is evil? Do you enjoy
applying the derogatory Jewish, like 'goy' or 'gentile', to youself and your
parents like the Jews of old used to apply to your ancestors??
When people try to use 'pagan' as a derogatory term, I just laugh at them,
because they are usually of European decent, and they freak out when I tell
them that most of the ancestors were pagans.
Regardless, Dani's choice to get this tattoo is her own. If thats not your
cup of tea, thats OK, but why needlessly give her a hard time about it? Do
you have no other better way to spend your time?
Note (i): Tony is a fucking fruit-cake facist, and can't stand to see other

he feels the need to bring everyone down into his shitty little world... I
don't think Dani should have given him that chance by asking for opinions

Yes, I agree...Dani did ask for opinions. My main problem with tattoos
(aside from the fact that I am chicken :) ) is I wonder how they are going
to look when these women are 60+ and things start to wrinkle and sag. Not a
pretty picture! At least with piercings you can take out the jewelry and be
left with a small scar, at most. I know someone mentioned laser removal,
but it is expensive and painful, from what I understand.

No - it is NOT!
And the sun will fade them too. I got mine when I was 30 and I was very
smart about where it was put and I have always put sunscreen on it so
the color looks as vivid as when I first had it done.
If any young girl is thinking about getting one they should remember
that one day they will be a mother and then a grandmother. I would never
put it where it can be seen with normal dress.
A tattooed ankle or shoulder can ruin the look of an elegant evening
gown....this is just my opinion, of course.

At least with piercings you can take out
the jewelry and be left with a small scar,
at most. I know someone mentioned
laser removal, but it is expensive and
painful, from what I understand.

Henna dye is great and only lasts a few weeks. My daughter wants me to
get some and paint a Mehndi design on her.

Now, those henna designs are cool! I just think about how it looks as you
age, as they don't look all that great on old men; let's face it!

Well, I have seen programs on TV here where they removed tattoos with
lasers and after some time there is nothing to be seen anymore. Have you

Wow!!! On TV ya say? No kidding huh?
Anyway, I've seen news reports where people have been left with permanant scars
and with blotchy colered patches because the laser only takes care of the skins
surface and not the areas where the ink may have gone in too deep.

That is true. My neighbor has a few, as does the mother of one of my kid's
friends. As I said, I would worry about how it would look in later
years...they don't look all that hot on old men!
As I said, I'm a big chicken. I was in my 20s before I pierced my ears. I
have two holes in each ear...my husband bought me diamond studs that I want
to be able to wear *always*, but I also want to wear my other earrings.
That is the extent of it though. I admit, I think the belly-button piercing
is cute, but I am too old. The face jewelry...yuck! The tongue supposedly
enhances oral sex, but can be dangerous if it gets infected and can even
cause dental problems (if the stud rubs the enamel of the teeth). As for
genital/ nipple peircings...ouch! I think it's masochistic and, yes, even
skanky!

I guess I didn't really think about that seeing as it's 40 some odd

willing to commit to for the rest of my life; and it's also in a place
that is easily hidden.

As I said, I'm a big chicken.

I won't deny that it hurts.. but it's bearable. And it also depends
on your pain tolerance. I did have a friend with me (she's so funny

the pain.

Aren't you around 42? When I was in Ireland, the lady who was doing
my nails had a small stud in her nose (I figure she was around 45ish)
and I asked her if it hurt getting done because I'm thinking of
getting mine done - she said "no, and I told my kids that I'm
rebelling!!!" - and she laughed. It looked good on her too.

Agreed. I would only do my nose (and only a small stud) - I have a
few friends (men and women) who have their eyebrows done! It just
looks painful every time I see them.

Yeah, it is sweet...mind you, I did have to hint (like I do for any jewelry

'Course. They never know what we want. My ex husband would buy me
gold, when I like silver. For years, Jane, I'm telling you.. he would
buy me something gold, and I'd say: "Thanks, honey, but I really like
silver - I don't like gold; and the plus is that silver is much
cheaper." No word of a lie - he'd come to me with something gold again
the next time. He never did learn that I like silver. But then again
he also couldn't get down how I take my coffee. Again, for years:
"I'll take a medium with extra cream and two sugars, honey."
Always had to ask when I was in the car with him - or he'd start to
order my coffee (wrong) and I'd have to jump over his shoulder and
yell into the intercom what I wanted. Or if I was at home, he always
brought me back the wrong coffee.
It's no wonder that anything of importance also never got through to
him.

As far as "slutty" I don't think they're getting their nipples erect
to turn-on the tattoo artist. But the *profession* they're in could
be considered "slutty" (say if they pose nude, or they're strippers
and that's why they're getting their nipples pierced.) My ex
sister-in-law is 22, a waitress and a college student. I *really*
don't know why she did it - but then again, look at her brother .. ;)

I've thought about that. Proper cleansing should keep it alright.

Tonight it's a lazy Monday dinner of soup
and grilled cheese -- bloating out afterwards
on homemade chocolate, peanut butter
and coconut cookies and chewy brownies.

Did you bring enough for everyone in the group?

You can have mine, I've never really cared for brownies.
I'd really been hoping for Marvin's peanut butter oatmeal cookies - they smelled
delicious!
