Just got finished watching good ol' Bible literalist, Jack Van Impe.
He is the Dr. Doom of Televangelists (although he claims the world
will not end...just...we will go through the END times and the world
won't end). I would say he is sort of the Harry Potter of
Televangelists, but he doesn't look enough like John Lennon and has no
Asian GF.
Despite his Cleopatra routine over the END of the WORLD (see it never
really ends...see?), Jack really knows his stuff concerning Bible
prophecy (at least per his interpretation). I used to challenge Tony
to look at Jack's interpretation of Ezekiel, Daniel and John's
Revelation and compare them to his own verse by verse. Unfortunately
for APN, Tony would just rant about his own Saddam/AC stuff (which was
still interesting if inaccurate) rather than look at Jack's EU AC
theories. If I weren't so lazy, I'd do the comparision myself. But I
am, so you do it....
Tonight, Jack mentioned he who shall not be named in this newsgroup
(Nostradamus) in a sort of mass of so-called prophets who are all
claiming that Dec 21st 2012 is the last horrah. I doubt there are
many in this NG (save maybe Claude) who could find any suggestion by
Nosty that 2012 is the final dance. However, Jack is going to take a
closer look, but it was strange to see him mention N. at all. Most
Bible literalists write off N. as either a crank or a demon-
manipulated pawn.
Jack also pointed out the usual Gog/Russia starting WWIII by attacking
Israel. He suggested that it might be Putin who, after taking a 4
year rest, can come back to power in 2012 and get to kickin' some
Israeli butt (only to get stomped by the western powers).
I strongly recommend Jack's program "Jack Van Impe..Presents..." to
all APNers who actually are kinda/sorta into N. and prophecy and doom
and gloom stuff for fun. I'd suggest keeping a decent reference bible
handy and writing down the references as Jack goes on (he uses a lot
of them).
Also, if you are fortunate enough to have digital cable, in the Free
Movies section of On Demand, there are some snazzy end-time-like
movies. The Prophecy (Christopher Walken), and a movie called
Stigmata (Gabriel Byrne)--both nifty. The first two Omen movies are
on there as well.
I am not affiliated with JVIM, FOX or any cable companies.
Muhahahaha (tap tap tap tap) Nostradame, Nostradame, oh Nostie Nostie

I used to regularly watch Jack and Rexella Van Impe spout doomsday news
items and opinions some years ago. He undoubtedly knows a lot about the
subject, but, as usual, right-wing Christians keep attempting to set dates
based on current events -- and then inevitably have to reset them as the
years pass and nothing occurs.
Despite this constant setting and resetting dates of various apocalyptic
events, and misinterpretations of, and overreactions to, current news
items, Jack Van Impe is a hoot to watch only to see him get manic over
prophecy and world events. LOL! Rexella seems narcotized, although she
provides good rapport with her husband, resulting in a spaced-out
presentation.
I've not seen them for several years, but I'm sure they're still doing the
same routine, as you have described.
Hal Lindsey used to have a program "International Intelligence Briefing"
(or something close to that title) on cable TV for awhile in a similar
standard news anchor format with another guy, that was close in flavor to
the Jack Van Impe show. Lindsey, though, was more cautious about setting
dates.

I was going to mention both VanImpe and Lindsey after reading Shasta's
post, but you beat me to it. My first exposure to apocalyptic (apopleptic?)
prophecy was Lindsey's book 'Late Great Planet Earth' in which he was
*very* specific about what would happen. After a bit of reading one finds
there are about as many interpretive variations for the 'end times' as
there are different plants on earth. I still enjoy watching the VanImpe's
now and again though (at least they're coherent, which is more than most
doom and gloomers can say).
Looks like Lindsey got a new website.

Thanks, Whitley. Finally, I can talk to a real person, not to an
anonymous coward hiding behind an alias.
*
As you are a retired USAF pilot, and as Peter Ewart Britton,
a.k.a., Peter Lemesurier, is also a retired RAF pilot, and as the
deciphered prophecy by Nostradamus speaks of the worst mistake in
human history committed by the US military, it is quite normal
for people associated with the military to attempt to discredit
the deciphered text.
*
A slight correction to your statement above: England does not
nuke Paris.
*
As to discrediting the cryptic anagrams, there is no need for
anyone to do so. If they have been correctly deciphered, no
amount of 'discrediting' can do the job; and if some (or all) of
them have not been correctly deciphered, then no amount of
'crediting' can save them. They stand or they fall on their own.
*
As to the duration of your attempts at discrediting the
deciphered text about Paris, just relax: All you have to do is to
wait for the news of Sunday, August 13, 2017, at 3:53 a.m., Paris
time, to see if the deciphered text has come true. And if it has
not, all you have to do is to say: "We've told you so!"
*
'Til then... tick, tick, tick, tick, tick... ;-)
*
Have a nice day, folks!
