London (UK) Two UK airline pilots flying in separate aircraft
reported seeing a large UFO hovering over the Channel Island of Alderny,
in between mainland Britain and France, local newspaper This Is Guernsey
has reported.
The object was described as being up to a mile wide, with the pilots
having spotted it at around the same time, location and altitude 10 miles
west of the island and 2,000 feet up. Captain Ray Bowyer of local airline
Aurigny, described the UFO.
"It was a very sharp, thin yellow object with a green area. It was
2,000ft up and stationary. I thought it was about 10 miles away, although
I later realised it was approximately 40 miles from us. At first, I
thought it was the size of a [Boeing] 737. But it must have been much
bigger because of how far away it was. It could have been as much as a
mile wide."
As he continued his approach into Guernsey he spotted a second
object further to the west, "identical" to the first. "It was exactly the
same but looked smaller because it was further away. It was closer to
Guernsey. I can't explain it. At first, I thought it might have been a
reflection from a vinery in Guernsey, but that would have disappeared
quickly. This was clearly visual for about nine minutes.
"As I got closer to it, it became clear to me that it was tangible.
I was in two minds about going towards it to have a closer look but
decided against it because of the size of it. I had to think of the safety
of the passengers first. I'm certainly not saying that it was something of
another world. All I'm saying is that I have never seen anything like it
before in all my years of flying."
The captain described the sightings to Air Traffic Control, with the
duty officer Paul Kelly later telling This Is Guernsey that he had had a
similar report from a pilot with Blue Islands. "The description was very
similar to Captain Bowyer's and they described it as being in exactly the
same place. But they were looking at it from opposite sides." He continued
to say that "both pilots placed it at the same altitude."
The objects did not appear on ATC radar, but had they been
stationary then the radar would have filtered them out.

No Woodsy. Both were Southen England, but the earthquake was centred
around Folkestone in Kent, which is the far Eastern point of the
Country. The UFO was seen over the Channel Islands in the far south
west.
Guessing, the distance would be something over 350 miles..a long way
by our standards.

some hundred miles from England and just 20 miles from France.

Don't you have superhighways? You know, limited access divided highways
that are designed to be driven at 70mph or so. (We call 'em
"interstates"). How on earth do you get anywhere without being able to
drive high speeds between/around your major cities?
Is Europe, in general, without superhighways? My mother & aunts went to
Ireland, and they said the roads were cute, but very small and you had to
drive very slowly - no interstates. They liked everything except the lack
of decent roads. They couldn't do nearly as much as they'd planned,
because driving around took so much more time than they'd expected.

Ah ... thanks for the info. I just looked them up - sounds like some very
nice places to visit on vacation! (But, uh, obviously not a road trip! ;-)

Yes Woodsy. A vast number of Motorways (UK) or Autoroutes(France)
speed traffic.
Although extensive, if you should wish to travel in a certain way,
then there are problems.
In England, and in France, Motorways tend to run North to South. Cross
Country runs are more problematic. Folkestone to Penzance in
Cornwall..where you would embark for the CI..or from Weymouth in
Dorset, lie on that cross-country route.
One Motorway, the M3 serves, but to attain it, one would have to drive
from Folkestone up into London, onto the horrific M25 London Circular
and exit on the M3 Portsmouth motorway.
Traffic is frequently at a stand still on busy motorways. You could be
waiting an hour before it moves properly, often several hours. Winding
lanes offer a relief from such stoppages, but do little to increase
ease of travel.
The size of the Country, the number of cars is the reason why driving
here is, quite frankly, a nightmare. That applies mainly to those rush
hour periods..well, rush day-time periods would serve better I think.
Tomorrow I am driving to Birmingham, some 150 miles. I drive
rather..well, just say I don't care a lot about the National 70mph
speed limit, but I will have to allow several hours for the trip. On
approaching Birmingham, traffic on the many converging motorways is
frequently stationary due to sheer volume.
I found driving in America a restful experience. Straight roads and
miles without traffic....quite blissful.

Can't comment above, here. When I visited Europe, I took cabs, buses
and trains every where I had to go. Thank God I didn't have to drive.

Yes, we have some pockets of heavy traffic here, too. The Beltway is
pretty much gridlock during their rush hours (creep along at something
like 15 mph - maddening!), and getting out of NYC or Boston on a Friday
afternoon for a 3 day (holiday) weekend is equally horrific.
Or in Kentucky if there's an accident. (The WORST state I've ever been in
regarding how they handle accidents on interstates - no forewarning to let
you get off before you hit the gridlock, and if they make you get off the
highway, there will be absolutely no detour signs up anywhere to let you
know how to get back on past the problem area. I don't think they've
invented temporary detour signs down there yet!)

The size of the Country, the number of

cars is the reason why driving

here is, quite frankly, a nightmare. That applies mainly to those rush

Gee, sounds even worse that driving around NYC (not in it, but that's
mostly frustrating because of the one-way roads and constant traffic
lights).

rather..well, just say I don't care a lot about the National 70mph speed

I hear you. Our speed limit on interstates, at least in New York State,
is 65 (70 in southern states). Nobody pays attention to that, the
de facto speed is around 75 mph. Police will pass you without blinking an
eye at you if you keep your speed to 75. If I'm in a really big hurry,
I'll drive faster (whipped through Ohio in record time the last time I
drove through there, lol!), but generally keep it around 70-75 because gas
mileage goes down due to drag the faster you go. (We've got a toaster,
drag-reduced gas mileage is noticeable).

I found driving in America a restful experience. Straight roads and
miles without traffic....quite blissful.

Depends on where you are, but yes, driving is very relaxing. Probably
why road trips are so popular here. ^_^
Good luck on your Birmingham trip!

That is very odd that you're addressing (all of us) it appears, when

Snakes don't like you to visit their den. They coil up, hiss, and strike
back, with fangs protruding. But, like snakes, they strike out defensively
much more than they hit their target. They're more dead on target when
they can pick their moments of attack, sneak up slowly, and then strike
quickly, either devouring their prey or slithering back into hiding
(depending on their appetite at the moment). From the looks of JTEM's
behaviour most recently, he's spending more time defending, than stalking.
And the hissing serpentine seems to have lost much of his 'appetite.'

Recently 'released' documentation - by both American and British

America and Britain) - where actually USSR (ColdWar) satellites , and
another 15% where just 'simply' Reactional "Test Sites" - as in, how
would people "React" to a UFO Encounter ???
So that only leaves about 5% of the remaining "Unexplained Phenomenon"
