Perhaps there is a strong correlation between your upbringing or
current spiritual/religious background.
1. What was your upbringing? Christian? Muslim? Were you raised in a
middle-class, lower-class, or upper-class home?
2. What is your current religious or spiritual background?
3. Do you believe that Nostradamus was accurate in at least some of his
prophecies and consider him a true prophet?
4. Do you believe that events have escalated and we are heading toward
a major catastrophe, rapture, world war, or other series of events
which will define the times we're living in?
5. Do you think there is at least a remote possibility that something

Wooo ... no ***** Sherlock ;)

1. What was your upbringing? Christian? Muslim? Were you raised in a
middle-class, lower-class, or upper-class home?

None, lower class

2. What is your current religious or spiritual background?

Spiritual, a firm belief in one God but each may interpret their own God as
they see fit ... no probs for me.

3. Do you believe that Nostradamus was accurate in at least some of his
prophecies and consider him a true prophet?

Translated and corrupted over the years however he wrote so much that he
prob got very close a few times by accident. I bet even Dubya will get
something right if he tries hard enough.

4. Do you believe that events have escalated and we are heading toward
a major catastrophe, rapture, world war, or other series of events
which will define the times we're living in?

No doubt whatsoever. Humans as selfish.

5. Do you think there is at least a remote possibility that something
may occur at the end of the Mayan calendar, in December of 2012?

Tacos will be more expensive. I bet there are Myans right now who can't wait
for 2012 so they can say "See, told you".

1. What was your upbringing? Christian? Muslim? Were you raised in a

Brought up by a non-practicing C of E family. Later of my own volition, I
*joined* a British baptist church. I beleieved alright, it was some of the
other church members that had me decide to leave - one day I was in the
church, and I just kind of 'woke up', and left. Thee scales did fall from
mine eyes, you might say.

2. What is your current religious or spiritual background?

Everything *is*, or *isn't*. Or something.

3. Do you believe that Nostradamus was accurate in at least some of his
prophecies and consider him a true prophet?

I beleieve Nostradamus to have been a fabrication.

4. Do you believe that events have escalated and we are heading toward

1. What was your upbringing? Christian? Muslim? Were you raised in a

Church of England. Middle-class mother, father was son of a tenant
farmer/council worker to rural working class

2. What is your current religious or spiritual background?

Marvelling at all the stuff there is in the universe, don't believe for a
second there is some deity who created it or looks over it though.

3. Do you believe that Nostradamus was accurate in at least some of his
prophecies and consider him a true prophet?

LOL! No. And neither would anyone else if they just took thet time to look
properly at a) what he wrote and b) the similarities between it and earlier
books., c) the utter lack of any succesful prediction by Nostradamus or the
twittering fools who "interpret" his stuff. Plenty of post- but no pre-.

4. Do you believe that events have escalated and we are heading toward
a major catastrophe, rapture, world war, or other series of events
which will define the times we're living in?

Nope. ***** happens, as always.

5. Do you think there is at least a remote possibility that something

I'm sure something will occur on that date, as it does on every date.

Catholic. Very religious mother, casual father. Taught by nuns, the whole
bit. Upper-middle-class home. Parents split up when I was a teenager.

2. What is your current religious or spiritual background?

Agnostic...but...still can't give up the midnight-mass-at-Christmas thing...

1. What was your upbringing? Christian? Muslim? Were you raised in a

Christened RC as a child, atheist until mid 30's, so called 'saved' into
evangelical church for 15 years. Raised in a middle class home 2 working
parents trades person and artisan.

2. What is your current religious or spiritual background?

Hit the wall as a result of tithing and giving myself into personal
bankruptcy and losing everything. Prosperity teachings, name it and claim
it, and earning God's favor never worked for me. Said '***** it' and bailed
out. Been an agnostic for nearly 10 years. Organized religion is Bull *****
and milks the poor, underpriviledged and people prone to guilt problems.

3. Do you believe that Nostradamus was accurate in at least some of his
prophecies and consider him a true prophet?

Yes

4. Do you believe that events have escalated and we are heading toward
a major catastrophe, rapture, world war, or other series of events
which will define the times we're living in?

Yes, but rapture is BS. Batten down the hatches Chrisitians you're in it
for the long haul!

5. Do you think there is at least a remote possibility that something
may occur at the end of the Mayan calendar, in December of 2012?

Yes, but doubt that the world will end, only as we know it which should be a
marked improvement over the way it is right now.

Thanks for participating.

PS. Last night I was up until 2:00 watching a video tape that was taped and
I've had in my possession since 1987. it was of an interview of a person
that I felt had genuine prophetic unction for a time and he spoke about
coming events and times. It took me a while to find it and dust it off as I
haven't watched it for many years but have used it as a guide for how I've
lived my life and organized my affairs ever since. One of the things he
said that really struck me this viewing was that after Reagan the US would
have a series of presidents every one more corrupt than his predecessor. He
also said that the US would have a president that was not elected and that
he 'saw' one of these presidents change into the likeness of Hitler during
his presidency. Patriot act anyone? Pretty good odds for statements made
18 years ago.

Perhaps there is a strong correlation between your upbringing or
current spiritual/religious background.

1. What was your upbringing? Christian? Muslim? Were you raised in a
middle-class, lower-class, or upper-class home?

Christian upgringing. But I realized quickly that something was inconsistent
about so many religions and so many truth-claimers, especially when
considering that they all believe in totally different things!! I had to
adapt a belief system that could somehow reconcile this observation about
people and their belief systems. Also, I don't like the idea that any
ideology or people is better than anyone anything else. Everything is here
for a reason or else it would not exist. I don't give authority to anyone
(other than myself) to define what I should believe.

2. What is your current religious or spiritual background?

I lean more toward an *internaly* based reality model.
I have my own theories, but they are heavly influenced by reading about
eastern type mysticism, pondering reality and practicing yoga.
Eastern philosophies present a model of reality that appeals to my intelect
and offers far less contradictions than externally based ideas of reality.

3. Do you believe that Nostradamus was accurate in at least some of his
prophecies and consider him a true prophet?

I believe people can have intuitions about things. Vauge and non-specific
predictions and parables are so they can work into just about anything. I
think that's how prophecy works. It's all about placing meaning of events
into some sort of framework and works strictly on interpretation only. A
good analogy to prophercy is a music and poetry. Varing people will hear
the same lyrics and interpret it in there own way according to their own
life circumstance. That's what the brain likes to do, make sense out of
things. I'm always amazed at the ability of the mind to make sense out of
any incoherent rubish if you try hard enough. The human mind is verry
powerful that way.

4. Do you believe that events have escalated and we are heading toward
a major catastrophe, rapture, world war, or other series of events
which will define the times we're living in?

It's pretty obvious, we are living in a *critical* stage in mankind's
evolution. It might be a slow fizzel or a big burst i'm not sure but times
are certainly changing....

5. Do you think there is at least a remote possibility that something
may occur at the end of the Mayan calendar, in December of 2012?

Yes!!! People will find something to read into it!! 2012 is a good
number. People seem interested in it like they were with 2001 whose digits
added up to 3. 2012 ads up to 5 if you add up the digits. Why not? These
are the first two prime numbrs. That could mean something if you want it to.

Perhaps there is a strong correlation between your upbringing or
current spiritual/religious background.

1. What was your upbringing? Christian? Muslim? Were you raised in a
middle-class, lower-class, or upper-class home?

Presbyterian, baby! Lower middle class, gradually moving into middle class
as the years progressed.

2. What is your current religious or spiritual background?

No longer a Christian, but I am a believer in an ill-defined supernatural
power that created the Universe. Other than that, I continue to creatively
construct my own belief system, on the fly, as the years go by. It is
constantly changing, as I experience more, compelling me to alter
previously held ideas.

3. Do you believe that Nostradamus was accurate in at least some of his
prophecies and consider him a true prophet?

It seems that a few, very few, quatrains have fairly accurately painted a
future scenario. I tend to believe that the many reinterpretations over
the centuries have helped increase Nosty's "batting average." My position
on prophecy, generally, is that precognition apparently occurs in some
human beings, but not necessarily are these "visions" or "impressions"
evidence of a fixed predestination of human events.

4. Do you believe that events have escalated and we are heading toward
a major catastrophe, rapture, world war, or other series of events
which will define the times we're living in?

Well, I think our geophysical records are only accurate and complete, on a
daily basis, going back about 100-150 years, at best. While currently
scientists are recording "increases" based on that knowledge, it leaves
some serious doubt whether the "increase" now is any more significant, or
unusual, than those periods when records were nonexistent or at least not
as detailed. So, with what data we have, I'd have to say that there has
been definitely an "increase" in such events in modern times.
Regarding armed human conflict, we actually have better records than for
geophysical events. The 20th century had more armed conflicts than any
previous century. The casualty toll was obviously higher, too, than any
other century, but that is because we had more people on the planet, and
more destructive weaponry than in past centuries. So, given that caveat,
yes human armed conflict is "escalating."
The presence of global mass, instant communication has produced a general
perception in many people that natural or human events are more "intense."
I think what will define our times is not increased confict or natural
disasters, though. It will be defined by our ability or inability to
reshape our existence, and our future, by confronting, diminishing, and
transforming the corporate-political power structure and its insidious,
negative influence on our democratic process, our lifestyles,
relationships, rights, privacy, health, et al, and its nonproductive
impact on our biosphere. This will require a radically different attitude
by the individual towards our daily existence, our values, our global
interrelationships, et al. I am guardingly pessimistic.

5. Do you think there is at least a remote possibility that something
may occur at the end of the Mayan calendar, in December of 2012?

There is no more possiblity of historically significant events, human or
natural, occurring in the year 2012, than in any other randomly chosen
year.

Thanks for participating.

Well, thank you, too.

Perhaps there is a strong correlation between your upbringing or
current spiritual/religious background.

1. What was your upbringing? Christian? Muslim? Were you raised in a
middle-class, lower-class, or upper-class home?

Semi-assimilated in the Red Cliff band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians in Odanah WI..Combination
Catholic sacraments with oral traditional learning of the Tribe. Took part in bear visions, sweat
lodges, and story telling of the Ojibwa tribal elders.
Raised lower class.

2. What is your current religious or spiritual background?

Christian.

3. Do you believe that Nostradamus was accurate in at least some of his
prophecies and consider him a true prophet?

He accuratly predicted the return of the King of Terror (UBL). 1999 vs 2001. Close enough for me.
Provided the prophecy is translated as I've come to understand it.

4. Do you believe that events have escalated and we are heading toward
a major catastrophe, rapture, world war, or other series of events
which will define the times we're living in?

Yes. Major event will occur during the early to mid-November "05. Downfall of the USA is a few short
years away. USA will no longer dominate the world scene. Trans-Russia/China cooperation will result
in a dominant world power. The USA will suffer a large scale nuclear attack. Rapture is a myth.

5. Do you think there is at least a remote possibility that something

Long before that.

current spiritual/religious background.

In my case I think there is a direct correlation.

1. What was your upbringing? Christian? Muslim? Were you raised in a
middle-class, lower-class, or upper-class home?

I was raised in a middle class Irish Catholic family.

2. What is your current religious or spiritual background?

Even as a small child I have always disliked chuch and religious activities.
To me, they have always been a waste of time and valuable resources. No
doubt some good has come from religion, though one only has to look at
todays news to find instances where religious beliefs direct human culture
toward disaster.

3. Do you believe that Nostradamus was accurate in at least some of his
prophecies and consider him a true prophet?

As with religious faith, believing in predictions might, in some way, help
to ensure their becoming reality. For example, many evangelical neocons in
the Bush Administration believe we are about to enter into Armagedon to
fight one great final battle with the forces of evil, in this case raidcal
Muslims. Ironically, radical Muslims have a similar view with their Jihad,
only it is they, not the Christians who wear the white hats, er turbines.

4. Do you believe that events have escalated and we are heading toward
a major catastrophe, rapture, world war, or other series of events
which will define the times we're living in?

Yes.
After my answer you #3 you may find this to be a curious answer, but
so-be-it.

Non-denominational Christian (Church of Christ). Middle class.

2. What is your current religious or spiritual background?

I have a set of beliefs, including interpretations of
Judaism/Christianity and Islam, but I don't practice any religion as
such. I believe that there are two very distinct deities, neither of
which are omniscient or omnipotent.

3. Do you believe that Nostradamus was accurate in at least some of his

I don't feel qualified to comment on that.

4. Do you believe that events have escalated and we are heading toward

Well, they certainly are leading somewhere, but I wouldn't call it a
catastrophe.

5. Do you think there is at least a remote possibility that something

That's too vague of a question. I do think that era will be very
important, historically, but I don't see how that relates to the end
of the Mayan calendar.

Mayan Prediction: a Dark Cloud...
At the Latinola site, there is a report of the recent announcement by
the Mayan elder, Don Alejandro Cirilo P=E9rez Oxlaj, which includes the
following:
"=2E..on Dec. 20, 2012, Mother Earth will pass inside the center of a
magnetic axis and that it may be darkened with a great cloud for 60 to
70 hours and that because of environmental degradation, she may not be
strong enough to survive the effects. "It will enter another age, but
when it does, there will be great and serious events. Earthquakes,
maremotos (tsunamis), floods, volcanic eruptions and great illness on
the planet Earth. Few survivors will be left."
Don Alejandro has been sent as a messenger from a council of elders to
warn the world that we must change the way we live and take care of
Earth. We hope his message resonates with people of all faiths and
beliefs."

Three Days In Darkness
In a world polluted inside
let's pretend the nightmare is done
from the earth the magma will rise

From the sea comes cancerous tides

The meaning of life ends in prophecy
Premonitions bring tragedy
is the hope for humanity
Molten fire.. flies thru the sky
Burning high... eclipse of the sun
Blackened skies
Rites of the night
The days in darkness in 2012
Mother earth's been withered by time
Already dead and we didn't even know it
Watch the stars to give us a sign

From above, all the angels descend

The meaning of life ends in agony
Raped by impurites
Not chance for humanity
Molten fire.. flies thru the sky
Burning high... eclipse of the sun
Blackened skies
Rites of the night
The days in darkness in 2012
Magma splits the earth and shifts below
Molten lava bursts and overflow
Rise as we wait, annihilate
Burning earth pulls to the sun
Rise as we wait, obliterate
Burning earth pulls to the sun
Three days of dakness in 2012
Mega cities still blaze in the night
Burning the ashes they choke

From the earth the magma will rise

Enveloped in poisonus smoke

The author, Ruth Allen noted, "The zenith meridian at Giza runs
through Jupiter at the Hyades in Taurus. The metaphor for this
alignment is that the kingdom (Jupiter) will be restored to Egypt
(Taurus) at that precise moment. Thus, Osiris, the Bull of Egypt, will
return from the dead at 22:18:13 on December 21, 2012. If these
calculations can be backed up, they will have fulfilled the ancient
prophecy. It will also prove that the Hall of Records is the stars.
Remember one simple fact. Everything we are and everything we can know,
is within the stars. That was the fundamental synoptic meaning of the
Giza complex."

The Maya calendar uses three different dating systems in parallel, the
Long Count, the Tzolkin (divine calendar), and the Haab (civil
calendar). Of these, only the Haab has a direct relationship to the
length of the year. The Haab was the civil calendar of the Mayas. It
consisted of 18 "months" of 20 days each, followed by 5 extra days,
known as Uayeb. This gives a year length of 365 days. The Mayan Long
Count used a system of counting of 1 to 13 rather than 0 to 12.

The Mayan Calendar seems to track a period of thousands of years whose
end, some scholars say, points to a specific date on our Gregorian
Calendar of December 23, 2012. The calendar, supported by local
traditions and lore, tells that the 'end of time' or the end of
this present cycle, will occur and will be forewarned by events such as
natural disasters, warfare and general chaos. The end time is the end
of this present Mayan age and the beginning of the next age to come.
Many other cultures around the globe also have legends or knowledge of
such an event coming to pass. The Hopi are very specific in their
beliefs concerning the ending of the present Fourth World and our
emergence into the Fifth World.

GOODAY Jeff once again !!

Being the world's most prolific, friendly neighborhood Prophet of
Doom, I will answer the last question first !!! ;-)

Yes, it does, but Seven Years of GREAT TRIBULATION first,
commencing in December 2005 !!!

(1) The period known as "great" tribulation is the last 3-1/2 years,
which will be triggered by the "abomination of desolation" in the
Temple by the Anti-Christ.
(2) NO one knows when the 7-year-long tribulation period will begin,
least of all being able to pinpoint a month and year. Technically,
if we use 1948 as the benchmark for the start of the generation
that will not pass from the earth before the Trib Period, then that
period could be 120 years or more later... when the LAST person
on earth born in 1948 dies. Or if 1967 is the benchmark, then it
could be later yet. (That being said, though, the "birth pangs"
prophesied as the precursor of the End Times *does* appear to
have started. And thus, the Rapture & subsequent Trib Period
could now be imminent.
So if the Trib Period happens to start in December, you'll have made
a lucky guess. (And so too, may have the Mayans.)

Leave it to Beaver and/or Father Knows Best, take your pick.

2. What is your current religious or spiritual background?

I'm a Wizard, or if you like, a metaphical engineer.

3. Do you believe that Nostradamus was accurate in at least some of his

This far gone down the timeline, the signal is being swallowed by the
noise, so Nosty is losing 'confidence' in the intel meaning.

4. Do you believe that events have escalated and we are heading toward

I believe that sooner than anyone would care to imagine, some Despot or
another will decide that Gawd spoke to him, and will turn the keys on his
little part of the world's new-Q-lur arsenal, and it will all be over in a
day or two. Twelve thousand years of work, down the drain in a day. The
surviving remnant of humanity will have to sort things out with sticks and
stones, and the Long Night will fall again, like it did 15000 years ago,
and 70000 years ago...

Ask a Mayan, if you can find one. Knowing the future doesn't exempt you
from it's effects, it seems.

If I lit a candle and gazed into a bowl of water, and claimed I saw the

Well you know the Mayans are a long extinct species. I don't think there
are any Mayans left watching the date. Their civilization expired long
before their calendar did!! In a way their "end of the world" happened a
long time ago.

Hi Mondo,
They think they are Maya because...they are descended from Maya,
basically. Same as many indigenous people in and around Mexico City
are descended from Aztecs. While their "civilizations" may be dead in
terms of the way we think of them, with their grand temples, political
structures, and whatnot, the Maya are definitely not dead. Certainly,
western contact has changed most, but not all, of Maya culture. For
instance, many still possess a worldview that sees the Maya calendar as
meaningful.
To be honest, I think the misconception developed simply because the
decline of Maya civilization, as most people think of it, was a great
mystery for so long. But, it still definitely hangs on today...I've
even had a professor or two who have talked about the "disappearance"
of the Maya. It's simply not true.
Like any culture, Mayan culture has undergone obvious changes due to a
variety of factors, not the least of which have to do with contact with
Westerners after the sixteenth century. Lots of native American
(north, south, and meso) have undergone changes, but they certainly are
not all dead.
Take care!

Mondo,
Just because the story is more interesting doesn't mean it's true.
Think of it this way also....by asserting that the other story is more
interesting, you categorically deny millions of extant Maya their
cultural past simply because you'd rather believe something else. Even
if the story were true, however, to say that the civilization had
disappeared without a trace is obviously wrong...there is lots of
evidence of the Classical and Post-Classical Maya culture throughout
mesoamerica.
And, as to your distinction between "civilization" and "race"...your
original post said "species", which is obviously wrong.
Take care!
