Scott Ritter with a long but thought provoking history lesson about various
elements in the Moslem past and present.
"A pop quiz, consisting of one question in two parts. Most readers might
complain that it is not realistic to expect mainstream America to possess
the knowledge necessary to achieve the level of comprehension required to
pass this quiz. I agree. However, since the mission of the United States
in Iraq has shifted from disarming Saddam to installing democracy to
creating stability, I think it only fair that the American people be asked
about those elements that are most relevant to the issue, namely the Shiite
and Sunni faithful and how they interact with one another.
"It is sadly misguided to believe that surging an additional 20,000 U.S.
troops into Baghdad and western Iraq will even come close to redressing the
issues raised in this article. And if you concur that the reality of Iraq
is far too complicated to be understood by the average American, yet alone
cured by the dispatch of additional troops, then we have a collective
responsibility to ask what the hell we are doing in that country to begin
with. If this doesn't represent a clarion call for bringing our men and
women home, nothing does. "

The problem with attempting to interpret what Stevie says, is that
you're most likely to get his denial of your interpretation, Perseid.
You set yourself up for a weird trip into Stevie's hellish ego-
centered vortex, as we all have been sucked into at some time, and
subject to having him recreate, obfuscate, dodge and dance around the
content and meaning of his sub-divine posts. No matter how accurate
the characterization of his posts might be, you'll usually get the
sneering denial. And a long agonizing defense. Stevie doesn't like you
to provide an analysis of what he says mainly because no mortal on
earth can really understand the intellectual complexity, the rational
exactness, the cool emotional evaluative mind of The Superior Steven.
He's beyond any interpretation. He simply IS right as rain...and you
must accept his uncanny morphing versions of his statements. What he
says here is simply representative of a state of human intellectual
and moral near-perfection. He is...The Saintly, Superior Steven. This
is a Frontal Lobe Locked-in-Tight Christian whose self-righteousness
precludes his acceptance of any ordinary criticism or analysis from us
inferior hairy bipeds. We haven't evolved as far as The Steven.
Perhaps we never will...:)~

Do you know how many children per month were dying in Iraq because of
the corrupt UN Oil for Food program? And do you know what torture was
like under Saddam's sadistic tyranny? Here's an example:
[excerpt] An Iraqi soldier, who according to the facility's records
witnessed the beatings, said interrogators regularly used pliers to
remove men's teeth, electric prods to shock men's genitals and drills
to cut holes in their ankles.
In one instance, the soldier recalled, he witnessed a Kuwaiti soldier,
who had been captured during the 1991 Persian Gulf War, being forced
to sit on a broken Pepsi bottle. The man was removed from the bottle
only after it filled up with his blood, the soldier said. He said the
man later died.
"I have seen interrogators break the heads of men with baseball bats,
pour salt into wounds and rape wives in front of their husbands," said
former Iraqi soldier Ali Iyad Kareen, 41.
He then revealed dozens of Polaroid pictures of beaten and dead Iraqis
from the directorate's files.
The beatings continued until the last days of the old government.
Iraqi Maj. Shakir Hamid, 33, and his two brothers said they were
arrested March 5 by military intelligence police and charged with
being informants for the CIA. They were released by sympathetic Iraqi
soldiers last week, Hamid said.
He and his two brothers, Majeed and Shakeer, have cigarette burns on
their wrists, the bottoms of their feet and their inner thighs. He
pointed out dried blood stains on the cement floor of several jail
cells. "The interrogators kept telling me, 'Admit it, you work for the
Americans, don't you?' " Hamid said. "Under Saddam, you were found
guilty whether or not there was any evidence against you." [end

Don't they have one freedom now that they didn't have under Saddam? The
freedom to flee? Aren't there 1.5 - 2 million Iraqis that have run from
Iraq since the invasion?

No, actually I'm not happy with some of the decisions made immediately
after the removal of Saddam. I've made those remarks on this group in

said as much on the group at the time. I still can't believe it. What

like under Saddam's sadistic tyranny? Here's an example:
Because of the oil for food program? They were dying because of the
sanctions insisted upon by the yanks you twat!
[excerpt] An Iraqi soldier, who according to the facility's records
witnessed the beatings, said interrogators regularly used pliers to
remove men's teeth, electric prods to shock men's genitals and drills
to cut holes in their ankles.
Yeah! Now the yanks have their "extraordinary rendition" *****
which puts suspects, (SUSPECTS), in the hands of countries who do the
same things.
Makes one think of Abu Ghrayb doesn't it douglas and the good old
yanks.
"Under Saddam, you were found
guilty whether or not there was any evidence against you." [end
excerpt]
There's another place like that...oh what's it called...it's on the
tip of my tongue...yeah Guantanamo bay! It's in Cuba. There one is
automatically guilty without trial!

So let me know then douglas. Was Iraq in the mess it's in today under
Saddam? No it wasn't. Up until 1991 when he took Kuwait back the
Iraqi's had the best quality of life of all the Mid-East countries.
Free health care, free schools up until university. You don't have
that in America. He was until then a friend of the yanks, just got too
big for his boots. It was only then then that he became this terrible

OK so it's what you read in the papers and heard on foxnews yes I get
it. Foxnews and worldNUTdaily, great sources of unbiased news I have
to admit. Not a smidgen of bias there at all...it's all "fair and
balanced" isin't it.

Where am I wrong then douglas?
It started when you claimed Iraq was peaceful under Saddam. That's
just incredibly wrong, and anyone with any knowledge whatsoever knows
it. Then you make some claim, with absolutely no basis, that Saddam
did not discriminate against one ethnic group. I'm really not sure how
you can say that with a straight face. Saddam and his Baathist allies
routinely repressed and suppressed the Shiites and the Kurds. How do
you think those mass graves got filled?
So let me know then douglas. Was Iraq in the mess it's in today under
Saddam?
It was in a mess all right. All I ever heard before Saddam was removed
was how 5000 children per month were dying in Iraq due to the
sanctions. And yes, the corrupt UN Oil for Food program was intended
to alleviate the suffering of the Iraqi population. But some of
Saddam's corrupt Western allies allowed him to thwart the intention of
that program and enrich himself at the expense of the Iraqi people.

You know, Docko, I really don't consider anyone on usenet to be
"enemies" -- it's merely political debate, so "debating opponents" is
more appropriate, wouldn't you say?

Then you should have worded it something like "something in common
with those who consider themselves to be your enemy." Then I'd have
understood what you were trying to say. By the way, Docko, what's
going on with your Aioe account? Any news to report?
