"The linking of the two place names, Persia and France, makes it
likely that this quatrain refers to the Ayatollah Khomeini, who top-
pled the monarch, the Shah of Iran, because the Shah placed too
much trust in him, or held him in too little suspicion.
The Ayatollah spent years of exile in Paris plotting the Shah's
downfall. Since these events will also end in France, the secret treaty,
*secret augure*, may well refer to France's methods in modern years of
paying Iran with both large sums of money and arms for the release
of their hostages. However, at the time I am writing the Ayatollah is
reported to be dying of terminal cancer, and so the last line may
contain a reference to things to come."

COMMENT BY CLAUDE LATRÉMOUILLE:
*
Although I do not subscribe to every element of this commentary
by Erika Cheetham, I concluded as she did that its main elements,
Persia, Gaule, monarch betrayed, pointed to the overthrow of the
Pahlavi dynasty in Iran.
*
Incidentally, Khomeiny was living in Neauphle-le-Château, not in
Paris, just before he left France for Iran.
*
Considering what transpired later, i.e., that US President Ronald
Reagan transferred planeloads of weapons to Iran in exchange for
*American* hostages held in Lebanon, Cheetham's commentary about
what France did for the return of her hostages is quite ironic.
*
Cheetham's commentary is just an interpretation, however; no way
of validating it as being 'correct'. Nostradamus was not dumb
enough to give us this meaningful gobbledygook without giving us
at the same time a way to validate it. Validate it after the
fact, perhaps, but validate it nonetheless.
*
And the method he used to achieve this validation is the line-
based cryptic anagram (LBCA). It consists of a line of text
constructed in a manner which will yield one piece of a four-line
French sentence in prose, each line producing a text which flows
naturally as if it had not been broken into four parts by these
four LBCAs.
*
To demonstrate what Nostradamus did, place on your Scrabble(R)
board the first line of this quatrain. Then, try to construct the
beginning of a clear French sentence using the letters from this
first line, creating words which might be missing one letter at
the most, and leaving a number of unused letters, the difference
between the missing letters and the unused letters not exceeding
one (1) letter. Repeat the experiment for the three remaining
lines.
*
Here is what I found:
*
--------- La Perse, nommée ensuite Iran, perd ung ------------
--------- Roy quand le Grand Mahommet fera la Loi et ---------
--------- Ommeni part de la digne France et ------------------
--------- ira marquer leur pays très long temps. -------------
*
In this text, Nostradamus manages to tell us that Persia shall
eventually be named Iran, that it shall lose a King when
Mahometan Law shall rule, allowing 'Ommeni' to leave the worthy
France for Iran and to brand their land with his mark for a very
long time.
*
Clever, eh, this Nostradamus?!

Title: Re: Quatrain I-70 according to Erika Cheetham 14 Aug 2006 10:52:58 PM
That Quatrain is about the Fall of France in WWII.
Its amazing how certain people crawl out of the woodwork (at times like
these) and make the most "Outrageous" Nostradamian Connections to
current affairs !!!
[Especially when they already know that these prophicies connect to
past events - some they may have even 'Connected The DOTs To' in
previous posts.]
