Bush, Cheney, Blair, Rice...well, I guess so, but I sure don't...too many
dead, maimed, traumatized...

Yes to turkeys, but no to pigs. After all, he did send a bunch of demons
into a bunch of pigs who them ran off a cliff and killed themselves. I
mean, one person who probably invited the demons in via a Ouija
board versus a bunch of pigs who were minding their own business.
Obviously, Jesus hates pigs.

Hopefully Steven will post the chapter and verses, because I'd love to read
the story.

The Gospel According to St. Mark.
Chapter 5. verses 1-13.
For the main part of the story, although verses 13-20 are a continuation and
should be read for the context.
IMHO, of course.

Why not ask Woods? She's knows the Bible very well. When I first came
to this group, one of the attractions for me were the various wide
ranging topics under discussion, including religion. In fact, before I
ever started posting here, Woods would occasionally discuss some of the
same Biblical principles I have since raised. Knowing religion was
under discussion long before I arrived here, I was under the impression
that religion was *not* a taboo subject for this group. Instead, I've
noticed a gradual progression of anti-religious posters voicing their
growing disdain. Not that it will stop me, but it's really a shame some
people are so intolerant.

Let me interject. You haven't directly proselytized here, but you've shown
a distinct sign of moral superiority when dealing with anyone that opposes
your religio-philosophical stance, with plenty of Biblical references to
back your position.
So, one doesn't have to openly recruit, only to show by repeated examples
that anyone who doesn't accept their belief system is inherently wrong,
misguided, inferior, evil, corrupted, etc.
And you do that rather often here, Steve-O...

The worst part about it is he uses 'hand-waiving' arguments,
gigantic mental leaps, and illogic to support his positions.
One example I pointed out to him a few days ago: His claim
was that since no WMD had been found then they must still be
out there (the argument itself may change with each passing
day since they grasp at anything they can get). This is a
completely fallacious argument. It would be as if I said that
since I've never seen a little green man and can't disprove
their existence, then they MUST exist. You can't prove
something by demonstrating that you haven't disproven it.
Stephen just does not get this. I've suggested he take a college
class to try to improve his logical reasoning skills, but he
interprets this as a put-down instead of constructive feedback.
He really has no desire to change or learn, and he wastes peoples'
time with week after month after year of this type of baloney argument.

I would think that with your habit of referencing the Google archives,
you'd find the examples you seek. And you don't have any memory of more
recent exchanges where you quote Biblical verse to back you arguments? You
don't have to target anyone -- the situation simply presents itself as the
discussion continues, and you start sprinkling biblical passages into the
discussion, especially if it concerns issues dealing with morality,
ethics, religion. I have a fuzzy memory of some, but I can't tell you now
exactly what they were about. Look it up, kid.

No, your referencing verse is not so much a result of a deliberate or
planned action, as it is opportunity that randomly manifests itself as the
exchanges continue. I don't have the precise memory of who or what, but
I'm sure you can Google it, if you are so concerned about this issue. I'm
under a lot of medication for CVD issues that seems to affect my memory
these days, and I just can't remember every detail, only that I'm sure
they did occur, fairly often.
Okay? Best I can do...again, look it up.

love
to read
the story.

Why not ask Woods? She's knows the Bible very well. When I first
came
to this group, one of the attractions for me were the various wide
ranging topics under discussion, including religion. In fact,
before
I
ever started posting here, Woods would occasionally discuss some
of
the
same Biblical principles I have since raised. Knowing religion was
under discussion long before I arrived here, I was under the
impression
that religion was *not* a taboo subject for this group. Instead,
I've
noticed a gradual progression of anti-religious posters voicing
their
growing disdain. Not that it will stop me, but it's really a shame
some
people are so intolerant.

It ain't the Bible, Steven, it's the sanctimonious, preachy 'tude.

Let's leave our political differences aside for a moment -- can you
show an example where I've presented a sanctimonious preachy 'tude
concerning religion? Have I spent time on this group trying to
convert
people to my religion? Please explain.

Let me interject. You haven't directly proselytized here, but you've
shown
a distinct sign of moral superiority when dealing with anyone that
opposes
your religio-philosophical stance, with plenty of Biblical references
to
back your position.

Okay, this is helpful. Have I ever specifically directed any of my
religio-philosopical stance, with Biblical references, towards you?

I would think that with your habit of referencing the Google archives,
you'd find the examples you seek. And you don't have any memory of more
recent exchanges where you quote Biblical verse to back you arguments? You
don't have to target anyone -- the situation simply presents itself as the
discussion continues, and you start sprinkling biblical passages into the
discussion, especially if it concerns issues dealing with morality,
ethics, religion.

In case you haven't noticed, I *respond* to other's posts. I rarely
start a thread, and I am fairly certain I have never started a thread
with a religious topic. Whenever I have quoted Bible text, it was in
response top someone else's post. And usually it was a clarification of
what the Bible actually says, rather than the misinterpretation of the
poster to whom I responded. I'm not sure how this translates into my
supposed holier-than-thou preachy attitude. Especially when there are
posts from Woods (going back to well before I ever posted here) in
which she offers up Biblical principles for the benefit of other
readers -- does that mean Woods has a holier-than-thou preachy attitude
as well?

So, one doesn't have to openly recruit, only to show by repeated
examples
that anyone who doesn't accept their belief system is inherently wrong,
misguided, inferior, evil, corrupted, etc.
And you do that rather often here, Steve-O...

Towards whom? Anyone in particular you can think of? And by the way,
thanks for the thoughtful reply.

No, your referencing verse is not so much a result of a deliberate or
planned action, as it is opportunity that randomly manifests itself as the
exchanges continue.

And Woods was doing the same thing before I ever showed up here. I
sincerely wonder if anyone ever challenged her for supposedly having a
holier-than-thou preachy attitude (though I don't believe she did,
anymore than I believe I do). If anything, my post earlier in the
thread, quoting myself from about three years ago, should be more
telling about my attitude -- no one should look to me as an example of
what a Christian should be. I have never made that claim, so this
holier-than-thou preacy attitude stuff is really a mystery to me. But
thanks for your thoughts.

I personally don't care if you quote scripture, but a bible
quote doesn't exactly provide support for your arguments and
claims. I'm sure that Christ himself did not suffer from lapses
of logical reasoning the way you do. From what I know, Christ
was about the sharpest tool in the shed (I'm sure he had to be

Ok, but do you have an Environmental Protection Agency Permit for outdoor

Are the torches non-toxic wood?

You project a holier-than-thou preachy attitude. It may not be what you
intend, but that's how it comes across on this side of the screen. Others
have pointed this out to you, and if you can't/won't see it by now, you
won't see it based on my statements. I'm not about to spend hours of my
time going through your posts to give you a full analysis of each,
explaining how they project such an impression.
I would say that it would be best to see what it is that you react to
negatively yourself, and then go back and read your own posts and see how
they reflect the very things that you yourself find negative. You seem to
react the most to the very posts that display, sometimes intentionally,
the very same type of post that portray this. Some might say that it is
synchronicity - you are ready to see in others that which you are ready to
see in yourself.

Obviously, he doesn't.
Nor do I. He seems to have , politely, asked you for an example.
You , or the other posters have not provided one but say "SEE! Just like
THAT!"
sort of, kind of, and to paraphrase... <g>
There is how we see ourselves and how others see us.
The ID and EGO, I think it is called. Or sumtin in that general area...
If the person can not "see", and you , or another , are unable to point to the
specific area of interest, then... how can you expect them to comprehend what
you are referring to?
THERE!
Where?
THERE!
Where?
OVER there?
WHERE?
Jesus wept!
Sanctimoniously speaking. :-P
And they didn't have turkeys in the Middle East in Jesus' day.
Turkeys were indigenous to the Americas.
But why let that run a perfectly good nonsense thread?
Pigs, howsomeever , were considered to be "unclean" beast by the Leviticus
laws, so it would have been perfectly acceptable to cast the demons in to the
swine and then have the swine run off the cliff to their, presumed, demise..
It is then debatable if said demise of the Swine resulted in the extinction of
the corporeal existence of the Demons.
Coulda been the Mideast Equivalent of the Southern USA "Tarbaby" tales.
"Please, Lord Jebus! Don't cast me into dat swine!"....
But THEN that would have demonstrated a fallibility in Jesus, if He could be
tricked by demons so I'm probably going to Hell for mentioning that one.
Then again, it might have been part of the Master Plan and He was also sent to
save demons. AND by killing them, they were saved.
Hey! It worked for the Inquisition!! Or so they claimed. :-)
