Object: Question about truth and beliefs?
Why is it that when people know something they 'feel' is true, they try to
convince others. Why don't they just keep the 'truth' to themselves? Why do
they have a natural instinct to make others believe as themselves? Does this
behavior have a function? Just wondering...

Perhaps to simply validate in their own minds that they are sane and not
under a delusion. If you can convince 100 people the earth is flat then the
earth is flat.

I'd say that if you know something is true, there's no reason to keep it
to yourself, but there's also no reason to insist that anyone else believe
it. The latter sounds like insecurity to me - like the person doesn't
really believe it.
