Did Vietnam make Dylan? Was his musical career built on the blood and bones
of dead American conscripts? You could look at it that way. See what I'm
getting at? The point is you can twist things round and yet there is still
a perverse logic.
Similarly if Saddam Hussein had been allowed to stay in Kuwait in 1991, and
had he been allowed to go on and invade Saudi Arabia, as it is thought he
was planning to do, would he have become an enemy of the west? Would there
be an Al Qaeda? Would 9-11 have happened?

The CIA later admitted that Saddam had no intention to invade Saudi
Arabia. It was just part of the propaganda being put out by Bush to
get support for his war. Never mind that the US's Ambassador to Iraq
gave him the green light to invade Kuwait. She said at their final
meeting "Just don't take all of it."
I was in Saudi Arabia when the invasion happened, and I was living
with 10 miles of the Kuwait border. The TV news about Iraq invading
Saudi Arabia was a joke. In fact, there were some guys driving across
the border into Kuwait to buy whiskey from the Iraqis to take back
into Saudi to sell on the Black Market.
1991 was a "created war". The US put Saddam into power,
had no problem giving him WMD in the 1980's which he used
on his own people, and the US knew it, and had no problem
giving him $4 billion in 1988 to strengthen his military. The
US slowly engineered Saddam into invading Kuwait, to give
the US the chance to get a foothold in Kuwait and later Iraq.
There is no "twisting" involved. This ***** did happen.

Hi!
Well, maybe Saddam wasn't planning to invade Saudi at the time, but the BBC
reports were of Iraqi troops massing on the Saudi border. For a brief time
speculation was that an invasion would take place. Saddam probably had
ambitions to invade Saudi at some stage.
The US gave aid and support to Saddam. Why? Because the Iraqi regime was
seen at the time as the lesser of two evils compared to Fundamentalist Iran.
Allegiances and friendships change. The US and Japan are allies, friends
even, yet around 60 years ago the Japanese made an unprovoked attack on the
US fleet at Pearl Harbour and the US nuked two Japanese cities. I have also
read that the logistics of the 2003 Iraq war were worked out under Clinton's
administration, though as far as I know there was no definite count-down to
invasion.
The CIA later admitted that Saddam had no intention to invade Saudi

Iraqis moved troops to the border to discourage US and British troops,
at the time only having one division, from getting a toe-hold in the
lower part of Kuwait, which is sparsely populated and easily to
overrun.

That was just a careless accident. Somebody spilled black ink
on all those pages and they could not be read so somebody else
put them thru a paper shredder and then burned the shreds to
ashes and then somebody else took those ashes out to sea
on a luxury cruise ship -- then bound themselves in plastic sheets and duct
