I have another text. This seem to apply to idolaters, which by modern
standards do not exist anymore or maybe in very backwards African
jungles, and even then.

Not many who think that statues have any spirit actually living in
them. This was good in the Muddle Ages, maybe. But it doesn't exist
anymore.

Well, again, not exactly. My edition of the koran says:

29. Fight against such of those who have been given the Scripture as
believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, and forbid not that which Allah
hath forbidden by His messenger, and follow not the religion of truth,
until they pay the tribute readily, being brought low.

Seen in that light, one has to be brought into the Koran to qualify.

Now, of course, I am not an expert. Which edition if yours is another,
is the right one?

But as far as I can tell, this doesn't concern those who have not been
brought up by Islam.
