Although I "feel" your concern here 'The Doctor', this War Effort in Iraq has
nothing more to do with the "Big Picture" of World Events other than to
introduce Abu Musab (the villain) on to the 'world stage'.
The American / Iraqi soldiers are doing what is necessary to stabilize Iraq
(nothing less would be expected, if they truly want to remove the 'opposing
forces' that are preventing the holding of elections in Iraq by early 2005).
Iraq is only the Act I in this "Great Play of the Modern Era" we call life. In
six months the 'curtain' will fall on Iraq and all will be well in the world.
(Giving us a false sense of security leading in to the Act II of this "Great
Play".)
It is Act II (like a great Shakespearean play) that all "Hell" breaks loose !!!

A bullet to the head of a True Iraqi Muslim, OR a bullet to the head of

an

Al-Qeada Supporter. (You know who I mean, the same 'supporters' that are

killing

other Muslims just because they are not "True Muslims" by Al-Qeada

standards

!!! )

Don't get me wrong, I do not condone the killing of anyone, but do you

really

know for sure that this person was an Iraqi Muslim (and not just an

Al-Qeada

Supporter - who would not have hesitated to killed an American or Iraqi

Soldier

if he had half the chance).

Do not judge the actions of others until you know all the facts.

...are against America now.

That video of an American Marine killing a wounded, unarmed Muslim in

a

Mosque has sealed it. It's being shown again, and again, and again in

the

Muslim world. Time for a bullet to Bush's, and Cheney's brain. God

knows

they deserve it.

I can't keep from being constantly reminded of how this *****
MESS-o-patamia thing started -- and why it is, and will continue to be, a
terribly tragic killing field for all concerned.

This war will never go anywhere, except into more chaos and bloodletting.
The democracy implanted will ultimately fall to interfactional disputes.
The only way to keep this hellish mess from deepening is to withdraw all
US-Coalition forces from Iraq, as Jimmy Carter has urged. Let them fight
amongst themselves for power, as they should've been allowed to do as
sovereign people, anyway. We will always be despised for what we've done,
and be the easy targets for their hatred. The USA needs to understand why
colonialism efforts ultimately failed, and why preemptive attacks, without
justification, have ultimately weakened empires.

Until that happens, we'll be talking endlessly about each and every
battle, inconsequential "victories," acts of atrocity...and this will
continue to erode the confidence the American public has in its
leadership, as more very young men and women come back dead or maimed. At
some near future point, the majority will demand a quick end to this
conflict, for, by then, it will have reached into many more of our
personal lives, and those we care about--not to mention draining the USA
economy, distancing any allies, endangering critical oil resources, etc.

The War On Terror is not the same as this war. They are distinctly two
separate conflicts. One concerns the world as terrorists spread their
violence across all national boundaries, and the world should be working
with the USA, and vice versa, to reduce it. When Putin announced Russian
forces will move internationally to confront terrorism, I did not hear the
Bush people saying, "That's great, let's work together." Nor, did I hear
Putin saying this to the USA. The other war is an attempt to control oil
riches in the Mideast and, generally, to spread hegemony across the globe
by the USA. The latter one risks spreading terrorism and engulfing the
world in a wider, more costly conflict. The WOT won't matter much when
that occurs, for we will be fighting for existence as a civilization. I am
reminded that, once we turn off our TV sets, the WOT and Iraq/Afghanistan
are no longer visible to most of the public. They go on consuming and
partying. I don't know of anyone who has been worried so much to the point
of cancelling trips to the shopping malls, vacations or sports games, for
example. Not enough have suffered personally yet for the majority to move
away from policies that will aggravate the danger. Bush policy definitely
raises the danger. It's become like a coffee table discussion to many,
something to enjoy debating. It will soon move into another dimension for
all of us. The chatter won't be spirited arguments any longer. It will be
bitter disgust with failed policy, and much misery to attend it.

Terrorists have never had the ability to control the world, but a super
power and other large nation-states certainly have. The Bush
anti-terrorism policy, such as it is, as manipulative and ineffectual as
it has been, is more dangerous to our existence than terrorism. Terrorists
don't have the ability to jeopardize our freedom. Rich, power-hungry
elitists do. Don't believe their lies. Someday, many will understand this
in the USA. Don't listen to fanatics who secretly desire a "good vs. evil"
violent confrontation with Eastern civilization to satisfy their sick
prophetical interpretations. They are ignorant men and women, consumed
with anger, bias, supremacist thoughts and paranoiac fears. They bring
only more suffering to a species that, ordinarily, has a tough ***** of a
life to live anyway.
