Imam had to say. The Imam gave a great presentation
of the basics of Islam,
EXCEPT, that is, to explain that Mohammed was sent to correct
the LIES of the Christians about Jesus, among other things;
and that the arrival of Mohammed had been Prophesied by
Jesus.

After the presentations, time was provided for
questions and answers.
When it was my turn I directed my question to the
Imam and asked: "Please correct me if I'm wrong, but
I understand that most Imams and clerics of Islam
have declared a holy Jihad (holy war) against the
infidels of the world, and that by killing an
infidel, which is a command to all Muslims,
I do not consider that I am 'commanded to kill an infidel';
but I believe that Mohammed was a prophet.
So there.
And there are millions of Muslims who, obviously, think
the same way I do.

I have not received any such assurance, especially since
Mohammed taught a Doctrine of Rebirth.
If that's the case,
can you give me the definition of an infidel?"

Look, anyone with half a brain knows that the Bible has been fiddled
with over the years. When it was compiled some of the Holy writings
were left out and then monks interpreted things according to their own
beliefs. The protestants tossed a few more books out and so on.
However, don't lose sight of one important fact. The basics are there.
Now, if you want you can append on to it the Koran (sp) or anything
else. Say the writings of Thomas Acquinas. The Nicene Creed or even
retranslate it to emphasise your own beliefs. It doesn't matter one
jot. The overwhelming theme of the scriptures is man's fall from grace
and the redemption and reconciliation of that grace through Jesus
Christ.
Now what you are doing is saying the Bible as we know it is false. you
accuse the Apostle Paul of being a charlatan and you count the
resurrection of Christ as phony. You deride this man's post just as
he derided the Imaam. What I got from his post was his arrogant sense
of superiority because he felt he was superior to the Muslim with his
obvious desire to score some points. This was plain to anyone who
listened to what he was saying and not reading it with blind bias.
Let me tell you something that I know. You cannot understand the
concept of being "reborn" until you experience it. It changes your
life so dramatically and so suddenly that it is unmistakeably a
transformation that has acted upon you. How do I understand this?
Because, like you I contested the concept. I believed in reincarnation
and evolution of the soul over many lifetimes. What I now know is that
when you are "reborn" Jesus transforms you. Now you can take that as a
Pauline concept and deride it if you will, but I know it is true and
all your logic and reasonings can never take that away from me or
anyone else who has experienced it.
The wonderful thing though is that this transformation is freely
available to everyone who wants it.

After all that, Muslims will insist they hold the bible in high esteem and
use references to the bible to support arguments. When you use the bible to
support a position then a Muslim will state the bible has been flawed and
hence cannot be trusted. And most amazingly, they do it with a straight

transformation that has acted upon you. How do I understand this?
Because, like you I contested the concept. I believed in reincarnation
and evolution of the soul over many lifetimes. What I now know is that
when you are "reborn" Jesus transforms you. Now you can take that as a
Pauline concept and deride it if you will, but I know it is true and
all your logic and reasonings can never take that away from me or
anyone else who has experienced it.
The wonderful thing though is that this transformation is freely
available to everyone who wants it.

I was particularly interested in what the Islamic
Imam had to say. The Imam gave a great presentation
of the basics of Islam,
EXCEPT, that is, to explain that Mohammed was sent to correct
the LIES of the Christians about Jesus, among other things;
and that the arrival of Mohammed had been Prophesied by
Jesus.

After the presentations, time was provided for
questions and answers.
When it was my turn I directed my question to the
Imam and asked: "Please correct me if I'm wrong, but
I understand that most Imams and clerics of Islam

I do not consider that I am 'commanded to kill an infidel';

The question that should have been asked is the definition

Something that you think you know.
You cannot understand the
concept of being "reborn" until you experience it. It changes your
life so dramatically and so suddenly that it is unmistakeably a
transformation that has acted upon you.
I certainly believe in transformations.
Transformations can occur independently of what the truth is.
Merely for a person to intensely *believe* in something can
effect a transformation whether or not it is the truth. A person
can be motivated by hope that a situation can be changed.
It may be an utterly false and ridiculous hope. But that hope
can transform the individual. It does not necessarily mean
that the situation can be changed in reality.
Many people are transformed by the belief that they have
been 'reborn', as defined by Christian theology. This is a
very powerful belief and it can achieve important and dram-
atic results. This does not demonstrate that it is any objec-
tive Truth.
I am not denying that such a belief can achieve personal
change. What I am saying is that it is not in any way an
indication that the teaching of Paul should be preferred
over the Teaching of Jesus.
How do I understand this?
Because, like you

What concept?
I believed in reincarnation

I NEVER believed in reincarnation. It seemed plausible. But I could
not believe it because I had no direct experience with whether it was
the truth or not. And I CERTAINLY have never believed and still do
not believe in any 'evolution of the soul'.
When I began receiving the memories of previous lives, it was
completely out of the blue. It was nothing I ever expected or sus-
pected. It was not until I received those memories that I even
could understand the reply of Jesus to the Sadducees. Before
that, it simply made no sense to me. And, when I questioned
the Christian ministers, they could not in any way explain it to
me in a way that it made any sense.
What I now know is that
when you are "reborn" Jesus transforms you.
Jesus died almost 2000 years ago. It is your *belief* in Jesus
which has transformed you. Jesus can only *do* something
if he were to be 'raised from the dead'. Then it wouldn't even
be Jesus anyway.
Worse than that. To say Jesus is still alive and that he is in
any way capable of transforming you is too close to saying
that Jesus is 'God'. To Jews and Muslims, that is simply
blasphemy.
Now you can take that as a
Pauline concept and deride
It is a Pauline concept. It is something to seduce idolators and
other pagans. It is quite effective, or there would be no such
thing as Christianity. It is not, however, and Truth.
When Jesus used these same terms he was referring to two
*very* specific and well-defined Revelations: 1) the Vision of
the "Son of man" and 2) the Revelation of the 'resurrection',
consisting of the Revelation of the Memory of Creation and
the revelation of the memories of previous lives. These are
not any things you have experienced. You could have no
Knowledge of such things.
Paul had NO direct Knowledge of either of these Revelations;
and, so, misunderstood and expropriated the words of Jesus.
You have swallowed Paul's stupidity unchallenged because
he speaks in much simpler terms than Jesus speaks.
