I have no king. I live in a democratic republic.

..At least until King George decides he doesn't wanna give up power.

Hold on...wait...I'm trying to come with an argument to refute
that...any second now....

Argument being that the military wouldn't support him. Hell, the
generals are ready to revolt *now*...

That's at least as scary as decades of Shrub law. Military coups,
however necessary at the time, have a habit of hanging around long after
normal democratic processes should have been restored.

Wouldn't necessarily have to be a coup. Any such take over would need the
backing of the military to enforce. As in Bush's immediate impeachment
and removal would be enforced as the military sits back and says, "Don't
look at us."

Actually, I think the worst case scenario would not be a military coup
but a civil war. Some military might back him but some (probably most)
are just as likely to say, "like hell". And plenty of states would flat
out not recognize his government. It'd be total chaos.

You can get away with a lot long as you keep the *form* alive. Rig the
elections but you better have them. Even people who can't be bothered to
vote would be pissed if they were told they couldn't.

But Daniel "the J" Min has informed us -- repeatedly, at that --
that there will be NO elections in 2008.
Do you doubt The Min? Do you DARE doubt The Min? What are
you, some kind of aminist or something?

I *should* know better. I mean, he prophesied the GOP would keep Congress
in '06. With a track record like that...
