Bush: Let illegal aliens work in U.S.

WASHINGTON --
Promoting a plan that could brighten his election year prospects with
Hispanic voters, President Bush on Wednesday proposed legal status --
at least temporarily -- for millions of illegal immigrants working in
the United States.
But the sweeping policy overhaul, offered with few specifics, also
angered many in the president's conservative Republican base of
support and drew criticism from advocacy groups who questioned whether
it would do much to help immigrants.

It will be one step in the direction of helping immigrants become American citizens.
You need to be an American citizen to vote in elections.
On several occasions, the Bush Administration have claimed that they are in favor of democracy.
This is their chance to prove that they are men of their word.
