i liked his early comedy too.
I find it odd that he's railing on obscenities,
when he used them heavily in his early work.

Obscenity is occasionally a requirement in stand up comedy. Those who rely
too heavily on it seldom reach the mainstream. I think Jerry Seinfeld was
one the few who succeeded without it. But Cosby did not, repeat not, depend
on profanity. His early work revolved around "My Brother Russell" and
"Basketball Jones".
