HBO Is 'Reclaiming History'
Net gets rights to book debunking JFK conspiracies
Sixteen years after Oliver Stone's "JFK" gave voice to conspiracy
theories about the assassination of John F. Kennedy, HBO is readying
its own epic take on the case -- and coming down emphatically on the
other side.
The cable network has acquired the rights to Vincent Bugliosi's book
"Reclaiming History: The Assassination of President John F. Kennedy,"
which aims to debunk any and all theories that some shadowy cabal
plotted Kennedy's death in Dallas on Nov. 22, 1963.
HBO will turn the book into a 10-part miniseries to be executive
produced by Tom Hanks, Gary Goetzman and Bill Paxton, the "Big Love"
star who brought the book to Goetzman and Hanks. The two are executive
producers of Paxton's show, as well as the upcoming HBO miniseries
"John Adams" and "The Pacific."
"We are delighted that Tom, Gary and Bill brought this amazing project
to HBO," HBO Films president Colin Callender says. "The successful
creative partnership we have enjoyed with them over the years imbues
us with a confidence, an excitement and the knowledge that Bugliosi's
riveting book will make a very powerful transition to the screen."
Bugliosi's door-stopping, 1,600-page book systematically takes apart
the various conspiracy theories around the JFK assassination and
re-argues the case that Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone. The former L.A.
deputy district attorney is known for his prosecution of Charles
Manson and his subsequent book about the case, "Helter Skelter."
As an 8-year-old, Paxton witnessed Kennedy's appearance in Fort Worth,
Texas, earlier on the day of his murder. He calls Bugliosi's book "the
greatest story that's never been told."
"With the 50th anniversaries of President Kennedy's inaugural address
[2011] and assassination [2013] looming in the next few years," Paxton
says, "we felt it was the right time to pursue this project."

HBO is making a big mistake producing this load of Orwellian
"Big Brother" codswallop. Bad enough they backed "BB" & Hanks
on the science-fiction fairytale "From the Earth to the Moon"
back in 1998. But getting behind the government's party-line
on the JFK assassination is over the top! I believe HBO & Co.
are going to regret this extremely stupid decision. If they
really do go through with it, and air this load of garbage,
they will alienate *millions* of their current subscribers.
I've certainly respect Tom Hanks as a very talented actor,
director and producer. Nobody can take that away from him.
But promoting the *treachery* of what has become the most
powerful, most corrupt, and most distrusted government in
world history, makes you wonder how they sleep at nights?
Remember that HBO comedy special when George Carlin said
"Everything that the government tells me is a lie!" I do,
and rest assured so do a whole lot of loyal HBO fans out
there. Did you catch Mos Def on Bill Maher recently? Def
was hitting on all cylinders. Or "How do you tell when a
politician is lying? His lips are moving." That's a fact,
the government has universally achieved ZERO CREDIBILITY.
Just look at Bush the younger. Do you know _anybody_ who
approves of his job performance? Maybe I don't get around
much, but I don't know of anyone who approves of GW Bush.
Yet they claim his "approval rating" is 33%! Who are they
polling to get such high marks? It's surely no one I know.
I believe that GW Bush's approval rating is closer to 0%.
Don't believe me? Just ask the former SOTH Newt Gingrich!
I betting about the same number of people who approve of
Bush, those are the same people who believe BB's "magic
bullet" that zigged and zagged and zooped and danced the
freakin' watusi, before landing neatly in JFK's hospital
gurney in pristine condition! Anyone who believes that,
well, I'm sure they approve of President George W. Bush
and their dear RepubliCON-Artist party. People like that
believe everything their government tells them to believe,
without question. They don't think to question "authority".
Think about it, HBO. Are your subscribers so brainwashed,
so naive, so utterly gullible and unintelligent that they
swallow everything that the government "ministry of truth"
shoves down their collective throat? If so, that's tragic.
