A hilarious story from columnist Jim Walsh in the Courier Post of Cherry
Hill, N.J.:

Here's the scene: Former CBS anchorman Dan
Rather is in Cherry Hill, giving a speech
about the need for journalists to do better.

"What's gone out of fashion is the tough
question and the follow-up," he tells an
admiring audience of about 600 people at
Cherry Hill's Star Forum.

So how can I, the guy covering Rather's
remarks, just sit there?

When he finishes, I hurry to a floor mike
to ask Rather about an issue that will be
part of my story.

"Mr. Rather," I say. "Great suggestions.
But you left the anchor desk last year after
your report questioning President Bush's
military service was discredited. Key
memos could not be authenticated. Do you
think the failure to ask questions then
affects your credibility now?"

Rather responds with civility--if not clarity.
He notes, in part, that an independent review
"couldn't determine whether the documents were
authentic or not."

Eager to please, I follow up: "The Courier-Post
won't run something if we're not sure it's
authentic. Are you saying it's OK . . ."

But my microphone goes dead--and the audience
stirs to life.

That Rather sure knows how to speak power to truth!

It's like the now-extinct (i.e., genuine, real) Hopi elders
used to say, "it's too late"; meaning, everyone's preaching
to the choir. We Republicans rule the roost. We're not about
to surrender control over all three branches of our beloved
United States Federal Government under any circumstances, no
matter what the cost, no matter what it takes.
By stark contrast, the bitterly-disenfranchised and inviable
Liberal party is beneath redemption and their candidates for
office are slated for defeat and extinction.
The dwindling numbers of political "fence-riders" won't make
or break the all-important federal elections. Republicans are
going to continue to vote Republican across-the-board, versus
the Liberals who're going to continue to vote Liberal Democrat
across-the-board, and that's that. It's too late for anyone
(i.e., registered voters in significant numbers, that is) to
change. And We Republicans are going to make damn-sure that it
stays that way no matter what it takes. This is World War III!
Republicans have fully **FOUR TIMES** the money in our political
war chest (big oil, big banks, big corporations, you do the math)
than the Liberals have in theirs. The big money backs winners not
losers. The bottom line is the Liberals haven't got a snowball's
chance in Hades of recapturing the U.S. Government Citadel which
we Republicans resoundingly control and unassailably dominate.
As far as We're concerned, the left-wing Atheistic Liberals are
every bit as much the sworn enemy of the United States as is the
Al-Qaeda and the Islamo-Fascist Jihad. We'll destroy them. Period.
Liberals can only sit back and watch Liberal media "poll numbers",
whilst our ruling majority of moderate-to-conservative Republicans
continue working around the clock to undermine and destroy Liberal
interests, both on the home front and abroad. And We mean BUSINESS!
Those who vote for Liberal Democrat candidates are happily on the
*losing* end of foreordained global destiny. So let Liberal media
shills do their best. They are doomed to failure and annihilation. :-D
