Canadian. The vast majority of those I talk with support Bush and the war on terror. They understand
how America is the target of the Islamic fundimentalists. They clearly see where America needs to
defend herself. The Canadian military is ashamed of how their ranks have been decimated by the ultra
liberal government. Many of the men I talked to left the Canadian military because of being treated
like second class citizens. The morale in the Canadian military is at an all time low. Too bad.
Canada once had a small but forminable force.

Ummm....yes and no, Eric. I am not the only person who thinks like I
do in Canada or even in Ontario. So Dreamwalker probably does know
supportive Canadians. To a large extent, it depends on where you live
and work. I live out in the country and work in an auto plant. There
are many, many people supportive of America that I know personally.
Of course, the riding I live in elects a Conservative federally and
provincially 90% of the time. There are also some who think like you.
And some that have been anti-American for years.
I also agree with DW about the state of our military...sad...a real
shame. I also know that the only reason we have the social safety net
we have is because we have been able to rely on the US for defence
(the same goes for Europe). Otherwise, we may have all been speaking
Russian by the end of the Cold War!
You must live in the city, Eric. I think that is where the opposition
to the US is the strongest.

before Sept 11 in order to oust the Taliban. Unfortunately, the systematic
dehumanization of women and gender apartheid did not garner enough

It really doesn't matter if Canadians are supportive. Sad to say they can be of very little
assistance in the Afghan war. The Canadian forces are so depleted and demoralized that they could be
seen more as a hinderence than an asset. The Canadian ground forces in Afghanastan are primarily
commited to non-hostile areas. They simply don't have the resources to be effective.

Sadly, you are right...the thousands of Canadian soldiers who bravely

I don't recall saying "facts" were biased...I said one source was biased.
That is the only poll result on the subject that I have seen, and the
results do not jibe with what the people I know say. Sorry, but that's just
the way I see it.
Now, for the sake of the arguement, let's say that poll is accurate, I do
believe that it is the knee-jerk anti-Americanism rearing its ugly head. If
people knew the dangers posed by the islamists, their opinion would change,
I think. We are too "PC' in much of the world to fight against a religion
that is violent and anti-woman at its core. (And don't argue that the bible
is anti-woman and violent...I am aware of that. Most Christians and Jews do
follow their holy books as literally as much of the islamic world does)

It's an expression; don't take it so seriously! Although, I suppose I could
take it literally, as myself and my husband do work for an American company
and have for 20 years. In my rural neighborhood, every second family
depends on this same company. I am the third generation in my family to
work for them. You could say that the whole economy of this area does
depend on the US, as the bulk of our finished product does head south. I
meant that, in much the same way that Ontario, BC and Alberta keep the
poorer areas of the country afloat, the US economy keeps us afloat. Whether
we like it or not, that is the way it is. It doesn't bother me in the
least, as my family does very well financially, but would surely feel it if
anything went badly in the US. We are far from the only Canadians in this
same position.
BTW, what have you got against dogs?
