Why does the American populace support the American government when it
does such things, year after year, decade after decade? Numb?
Most people are lazy and easily influenced by their need to fit in
with what is presumably the dominant thrust of PC opinion. Since the
extreme right rules mainstream media, the sheeple do as they're told
by the only political voices they can hear. The present system of
highly organized and orchestrated intensely and vitriolic right-wing
propaganda causes one to wonder about the continued viability of
democracy.

The right rules talk radio, but that's pretty much it. TV news and talk is
dominated by the left with one exception (Fox). The print media is more
left leaning than right with a few notable exceptions. All of them twist
the facts to fit the message, look at the NY Times. The only reason this is
a big issue for the left at this time is because the left has finally lost
their self appointed moral high ground and the tide is swinging the other
way. Many Americans are sick of lofty ideals that disenfranchise their
lifestyles.
Democracy has been threatened by corruption in the past and will no doubt
be threatened by it in the future. The problem isn't the media, its the
money in politics. I'd like to think it's correctable, but it may not be.

Listen, it's a healthy debate for people to express their opinion. People

The corruption is removable, but it will take some radical surgery. I favor
making contributions from corporations, special interest groups, and political
action committees, et al, High Treason under the Influence Peddling clause in
the Constitution, and carrying out the recommended sentence, ie hanging, on
everyone involved. Dangle the senator for taking the money, dangle the Board of
Directors of the Corporation that offered the money, and dangle the fool who
served as the messenger for the offer. This is a necessary first step to
cleaning house and restoring confidence of the population in their elected
officials.
Right now, our government is bought and paid for by the Corporates, and to the
Corporates they owe their allegiance, not to the sheeple who put them in
orfice.
