Based on the teachings of the Quran, Muslims claim that the Angel
Gabriel is the Holy Ghost of the gospels. And they find Luke 1:26-1:35
as a proof.
The best Christian response I found on the web is this: If this is
true, then why did Gabriel say to Mary in verse 35, "the power of the
Holy Spirit will come upon you" rather than "my power will come upon
you"?
I am not sure whether or not the above Christian response is
convincing. But based on this logic we can say that Jesus is not
referring to himself as the Son of Man in the following example verse:
Mark 8:38 For whoever will be ashamed of me and of my words in this
adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man also will be ashamed
of him, when he comes in the glory of his Father with the holy angels."
Why Jesus said "the Son of Man also will be ashamed of him when he
comes..." rather than "I also will be ashamed of him when I come..."?
If you think Jesus was referring to himself in a different way, then
the same thing can said about the Angel Gabriel.
So who is the Son of Man?
And who is the Holy Ghost?

It's a good set of questions, but...
Therein lies the conundrum. Those who feel the need--instead of
asking God directly--to solicit mere mortals to help them answer
questions about heavenly, eternal, everlasting things (i.e. those
who don't already *know* the veritable deathless answers to those
questions before they even ask, as say a savvy lawyer knows to do),
such souls tend to hear only what they want to hear; nothing more,
lest the answers burn their ears, and blind their eyes, and cause
them to rend their vestments in rage and anger, crying "Blasphemy"!
They think in worldly terms of the ego-self, not in heavenly terms
of the God-self. Jesus wants us to recognize who He is, because the
same eternal Light of recognition is inherent within each one of us.
My advise to you then is this. If you can't find the true answers
within, then surely you'll not recognize self-same answers echoing
from without. Truly, it takes one to know one. Would you expect to
recognize and comprehend answers to questions about brain surgery,
if you yourself are not a well-educated, experienced brain surgeon?
Remember, not even Jesus' dear (and five months plus one day older)
first-cousin John the Baptist recognized Jesus for who He is, until
Jesus was baptised in their 30th year. No more spiritually adept man
had ever walked the face of the earth i.e. _before_ John the Baptist.
Do you expect to recognize Truth more easily than Jesus' cousin did?
Why then would any man seek God's Truth from mortal men who mislead
(even as they themselves were misled by those who went before them)?
It would be more fruitful to preach to the birds, or fields of corn.
Hope that helps,
