I know it did Jane, but we had a problem with it here as well and the
Americans blame their mad cow problems on 1 Canadian cow that still
hasn't been proven the source for the American problem.

I know the situation is really sad. We bought a cow from a neighbor for
only $2/lb. The animal was only 7 monthes old and is the best beef we've
ever had, but the farmer cannot afford to feed them and cannot sell them
live. We may have banned US beef had the situation been reversed, as we
have banned beef from countries such as Japan that have only had a handful
of cases. Hopefully the border will fully open up again soon.

I believe that we ALL have infected animals, as we all have turned cows into
cannibals in the past. It has hit harder in Europe, as they do not have the
luxury of extensive pasturelands like we have here, and have had to rely
more on suppliments. No doubt, there will be more and more cases in the
future, sad to SAY.
