"Christian soldier" is scriptural, to begin with. Beyond
that, it's become a very common phrase over the centuries,
commonly used in wartime, peacetime, and every other time,
even in the end times, which is how I am obediently using

"Praise the Lord & Pass the Ammunition" would be helpful?

The fact that you need to ask speaks volumes. There are many,
many old and new testiment verses which relate to soldiering
for God. If you doubt it, just read the bible cover to cover.
Literalists typically cite II Timothy 2:3-4, etc. Personally,
I like to quote the gospel According to Luke, at verse 19:27
more than any other passage. But no book in history compares
to the Apocalypse. That's the scripture I relate to the most.
Beyond

I see. It was one of those things where I thought there might be someone
saying something cryptic about our Lord Jesus in regard to war and something
derogatory. It was very very vauge if it was. I just wanted to make sure.
Thanks for clarifying that for me.
Vague? There is nothing ambiguous about the overwhelmingly-
popular and historically extremely well established phrase
"Christian soldier". The only one being "vauge" here is you.

Thanks for agreeing with me.
However, when David V and myself think that religion is evil, we have
the evidence.
Just look at the Daniel posting where he refrain from using the
"Onwards Christian soldiers",
"Praise the Lord and Pass the Ammunition" to project Christianity.
What do you think of these terms?
I would interprete that: Onwards Christian Soldier means the army of
Christians moving onwards to slaughter people........
And Praise the lord and pass the ammunition means while marching, the
soldiers would pass weapons and ammunitions to frontline to continue
slaughtering....
So, you see, if this is not evilness of religion, it must surely be
the real dark side of Christianity.
It is no wonder Crusading war happens, Inquisition...
Oh, those who don't see this must be blind, and those who still
embrace it must be the willing partner of evilness.....

Agree with David V. Religion is never about love....!
It is always about love.
Let's see.... slavery is condoned by the bible..... yep, slavery
is pure love. Beating, not spanking but beating, and killing
children is condoned and mandated..... yep, that's all about
love. The various Crusades.... yep, lots of love there. Burning
people at the stake.... so much love there it makes one warm all
over. Blowing up women's health clinics... more love. Yep, you're
right.... it's all about love.

Scripture contains mostly contradicting verse and phrases;
"Love thy neighbor" against "An eye for an Eye"
That's why you should read the entire bible instead if bits of it. E.g.
Jesus did away with the eye for an eye thing because when he came he
explained the true meaning of the commandments and did away with the ones
(like eye for an eye) which we were ready to live without (our hearts were
no longer hard)

That's the only thing he's gotten right. Reading the bible is the
best cure for belief in it. christians don't actually read the
bible, they just pick out a sentence , or phrase, that supports
what they want to say.
E.g. Jesus did away with the eye for an eye thing because when
he came he explained......
See what I mean? They actually believe what is written are the
words of a real person. Most likely this jesus never existed. The
stories in the bible are a complete fabrication.

Because it is a stupid god that would create a son that is not
his son to die but not die in order for it to forgive you for
something that you did not do. The next time someone quoted that
john 3:16 to you ask if they would kill one of their children to
forgive you for something that you did not do.

That's precisely what you did earlier in the thread. You haven't read

Slavery was not condoned by the Bible. Slavery existed *before* the
Bible was written. In that environment, the Bible introduced
guidelines for treating slaves humanely -- including the freeing of
slaves after a few years. You may say slaveholders in the old South
used the Bible to justify their slavery, but they were actually in

There are many *stories* in the Bible that were written and intended
for people of another era. I don't consider some of the *stories* in
the Bible to be instructions for how I should live my life. But since
I'm not familiar with your opinions, I wonder how you feel about the
Quran? Are you as indignant with that book as you are the Bible? Just
curious.

That's quite an ignorant claim. On the other hand I find that atheists will
pick out small events in history and out of context use them to insult
Christianity, when in those cases it was an actual misuse of Christianity
just as _some_ Muslims use Islam for justifying their evild deeds. But
there's also nothing in the Koran which supports what these terrorists claim
is in the Koran. Its as if they made up their own copy of the Koran and use
it to fit their needs. I guess this happens with those horrible so-called
"Christians" who bomb abortion clinics.
That's precisely what you did earlier in the thread. You haven't read
the Bible, yet you've got a few rehearsed sound bites memorized.
Slavery was not condoned by the Bible.
Actually it was. If you take a look at Exodus 21:2-11 you will see the laws
layed out by God for slave rights. It appears to me that the person who
mentioned this above is confusing the usage of the term "slavery" with what
it meant in the old south where slaves had no rights and were treated like
animals. But I doubt said person has read that part of the Bible.
Slavery existed *before* the Bible was written.
What I quoted above was all written down by Moses so it _was_ actually
written during the period that this part of the Bible was still being
written!
In that environment, the Bible introduced
guidelines for treating slaves humanely -- including the freeing of
slaves after a few years. You may say slaveholders in the old South
used the Bible to justify their slavery, but they were actually in

Thank you! My exact sentiments! :)
You will notice that the change that came was when the Hebrews began to grow
in number which scared the Egyptians so the Egyptians put them into "hard
slavery".

I've taken a few glances at it. Read a small portion of it too. Its a
difficult book to read since its not chronological. Its kid of all over the
place. But I look forward to reading it. It'd be good for the uneducated in
Islam to pick up a book on Mohammed as well as a book or two on Islam. This
way one makes decisions based on fact rather than very ignorant and hateful
total inaccurate rumor.

The problem with that is that the exodus never happened. Moses
never existed. A half million people (using the smallest figures)
did not wonder in any desert for 40 years. And.... gee.... "slave
rights"? Isn't that an oxymoron? You forgot; that passage does
not condemn slavery, but supports it.

Hi Pete
Welcome to usenet. In general, blocking people in unmoderated groups
doesn't work. There are newsreaders which have killfiles for filtering
posts that you don't want to see.

Scripture contains mostly contradicting verse and
phrases; "Love thy neighbor" against "An eye for
an Eye"
That's why you should read the entire bible
instead if bits of it.
That's the only thing he's gotten right. Reading the
bible is the best cure for belief in it. christians
don't actually read the bible, they just pick out a
sentence , or phrase, that supports what they want
to say.
That's quite an ignorant claim.
It's the truth though. Nothing you said changed that.
That's precisely what you did earlier in the thread.
You haven't read the Bible, yet you've got a few
rehearsed sound bites memorized. Slavery was not
condoned by the Bible.
Actually it was. If you take a look at Exodus 21:2-11
you will see the laws layed out by God for slave rights.
The problem with that is that the exodus never happened.
So what's your explanation for this photo of Mt Sinai? The
location of Jabal al Lawz is consistent with that given by
Philo and Josephus.

Hi colp
There are some people who should be blocked and the faster the
better.
Yes, that's very true. Actually listening to someone that doesn't
worship the bible and it's gods may cause you to think. Your
religion does not allow that. Not too long ago you got to kill
people like me. Now that you can't do that, all you can do is
block us. Then you can hear only that which agrees with you and
agrees with what your religion wants you to hear.

Uh.... it's a picture. No big deal. Nothing special. There are
lots of pictures of that mountain. It's also easy to mention the
location of a well known mountain. You have proven nothing.

You don't think it's odd that the top of the mountain is blackened?
